oil cooler heat exchanger ?

Has anyone fitted an oil cooler , using the existing heat exchanger pipes as a start.

I was thinking of piping from the original heat exchanger sanwich plate to a 10 row oil cooler to save costs.

Has anyone done this, would it work ?
