Got and fitted a new race supersprint system at the weekend (Centre pipe and Backbox)
Cant fault the quality and I can feel a difference in the car
But...
It sounds nothing like I thought barely a rumble on idle and when revving it i can hear a slight different in tone but not what i was expecting.
Im still very happy with it but just surprised it hasnt got more of a kick. Will it settle in and sound different?
and dont say de-cat :P not an option! :homme:
Give it some time to bed in and carbon up then it will sound nice

i had mine on a mk2 vtr too, so didnt decat it and at first wasnt too raspy or anything but after a week or two it did start to kick in, like everyone has said. I now have it on my vts and it has decatted it and the sound is 100 times beter, go for a decat with it mate, gives the perfect note:y:

mate mines got a full straight through just with a middle section and backbox silencer and it sounds quiet as a mouse to me but in a way its nice to not draw attention to it.

hmmm being swayed towards a de-cat here... i just cba to put a cat back on for mot as its on the mani. everytime you swap a mani do you need a gasket? hmmm ill give it a couple of weeks and decide unless someone has a sound clip or a vid that could sway me to a final decision :P

LOL at all the de-cat replys.
Yes de-cat will pop and bang but once its bedded in itll be better.
Generally they take between 100-1000 miles before properly bedding in.

100-1000 thats a pretty big bracket :P
A MkI exhaust and CAT will fit your car and will get you through an MOT is you do or want to de-CAT.
Changing the manifold is a one time job trust me!

i had a back box like this it was silent, i waited a few weeks for it to settle but it never did??? i added a centre section to pump up the volume
If you wanted noise you should've got a Powerho' or Piper.
Maxamus

its not that i wanted noise although it would be nice:P its just i thought the system i have was going to be a bit more......well more! :P

come on man admit it you want some noise lol
It will bed in mate. I bought an exhaust sytem, was silent to start with but eventually gave a small increase. As mentioned a de-cat would sort it out though.
Remember though, too noisy is queer.

Just get a center section with a cat mate, then put that on instead of the mani come mot time. People have done it before. Saves hassle

ok so im 80% sure i want to de-cat. so in order to do that i need a new manifold
I want a decently priced one that will bolt straight on without any modification!
any suggestions welcome.
P.s raceland dont do online anymore
Leave it mate. MOT time can become a bit of a headache.

If you can cope with MOT time, and want the extra bit of power, then go for it.
In face try it, will never know until you try yourself :y:

get a nice 4-2-1 manifold, i managed to take my whole exhaust system off, heawrap it, and put it back on in just over an hour, so its not that big a job at all.

Suppose thats a good enough answer for me :zainy:
I'd do it. I had a raceland that i was going to fit on my vtr. It wasn't a great fit but went on alright. Needed new gaskets though so didn't leave it on. Just slid it on to check fitting. Someone else on here has it now and it's fine!
Maxamus

Raceland dont do online anymore do they?
They don't but you can't really go wrong with a second hand one. Check ebay for a new one as well. Always people selling old stock etc.
