hi ppl ive got a V reg westcoast and im wanting to put a VTR lump in it, as i fancy something a little different, how hard is it to upgrade? what will i need along with the new engine? will i need to change the loom over? if you could let me know that would be much appreciated. cheers Lee
May work out cheaper & easier to do & insure to just to buy a vtr!

or you could drop a vts lump in. it isnt worth putting a vtr lump in mate. might aswell go all the way

yeah but seen as im only 18, i think if i declared it the insurance would be just a little to high, hence why i want to do the VTR conversion, i would love the vts conversion but i want to be running legally lol. so is the VTR swap basically just a straight swap? along with the ecu? cheers
You want to be running legally, but do a vtr engine swop undisclosed......
Muppet, save your money for when you can afford to do it properly!

If im correct it would be cheaper to insure a vtr than to insure a westcoast with a vtr engine conversion. Just a thought

insurance companies hate engine swaps my mate bought a 106gti and put a quicksilver engine in it because it was his first car and the the gti engine was knackered and the dvla classed it as a kit car and its near on immpossible to get anyone to insure it its more to insure than a a standard gti just cus he messed around with it
