i was just wondering if anyone knew if the 206gti engine will fit in the saxo engine bay. and is it a tu engine if so then i dont see why i couldnt use the saxo engine mounts and the vtr gearbox.
the 2.0L engine isnt a TU engine.
It can be done if you have very good engineering skills/deep pockets.

oooo boo. it would be a tight fit aswell. lol hink i'll look into this a bit more i've no heard of anyone thats done it.

Its been done, same as a GTI-6 engine has been done.
Search theres alot of threads on discussions/cars that have been done mentioned

It's not TU. And I don't think the vtr gearbox will be sufficient, it's an MA box, and the GTi should really need a BE box as they can take a higher torque. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.
However the GTi engine is similar in makeup to a VTS, just with a few tiddly bits.

Add to the fact they use totally different bellhousings in 90% of the boxes (there are a couple of non TU engines using MA bellhousing type BE boxes)

Indeed, many things need to be researched.
[Hi from 206 land btw] :)

ive helped my mate do 3 engine transplants but theyve been on vauxhalls. so nw its my turn and i was wanting somthing with that will pull me out of bed in the mornin. lol

if you can get someone to weld in new mounts, and depending on other stuff potentially modify a chassis leg, plus sort out driveshafts and hubs then all can be done ;)

i bought a brand new bodyshell so im tryin 2 figure out what engine to put in it. ive got a vtr engine sitting that ah can use but i want more power.

a Brand new shell, that must have cost a fair bit of £££ :P
Use a 16v engine, bung some cams in or go boosted, it will shit on 8vs in standard form let alone modified lol

it cost me 500 quid off ebay sum idiot had tried to paint it and made an arse of it used the wrong thinners and the paint didnt set. my mates got a 106 gti with cams and its rapid. but a wouldnt mind finding out how much you can squeese out of the 8v ie turbo cams throttle bodies

Boosted 8vs can make good power, however its like pissing in the wind with the 8v imo when spending the same on a 16v engine will often see alot more power ;)

well that is true. your motors a weapon by the way. check mine on my bebo page search for robertc7443
Everyone did the 8v thing in the saxo world a few years back, almost of those who spent massive ££££ on 8vs I know now either have 16v engines with the blowers or wish they had used a 16v engine to do their old engines on.
Martin from tweeqd is obsessed with 8vs so is building a very high spec one still.

f**k it 16v it is then. im defo going to turbo it ive been dying to turbo summit. lol

someone I knows rather expensive turbo set up is over 370 ATW lol!!
remeber if you plan to go boost, select the cam choice for this!

ooft bet that things a gearbox muncher. lol. will do i would probably just try and get to 200 atw

using a BE box and quaife ATB diff it should be fine should deans.
200ATW is very easily obtainable on a 16v

Crazy aint it, must go thru a few tyres tho ;)

He cant launch it hard in 1st and 2nd really, unless he wants to mash the internals a touch. Rev limiter cant keep up or something he told me when I last spoke to him lol

Ye the few vids he sent me it seems unable to dig in at lowish speeds w/o spinning, mainly down to the power > weight im assuming (im not that mechanical tbh)

Not just to do with that, the turbo/revs increase at a rate that the limiter he said cant keep up with or something like that, limiter not working = bye bye to some engine parts. This is why hes not launching hard from a standing start.

you need a be4 gearbox and custom driveshafts...

ah want a shot. my mates astra 2L redtops like that he put the 1.4 box in it goes through a set of front tires every 2 weeks. lol

where can you get modified shafts?

what would be the point in all that work for 138hp? maybe the gti180 engine but not the gti engine, would be alot easier and better to fit and tune a vts engine imo.

it would be better to start with a gti6 engine, though id rather just buy a 205 and stick it straight in the lighter shell.

The gti180 is an odd engine, not many people have done things to it. So it would be new bounds!

plus the 205 bay looks a little bit bigger so should fit alot nicer

god dam it
thats pi*h
i cant understand why you would want to do this tbh.
The vts with mods can get higher bhp than 180 without too much hassle (n/a) or very high bhp with a turbo.
If you planned on sticking a 180 engine in there and modding, you must have very deep pockets and begs the question
Why not just get a better car?
one that is faster, newer, nicer etc etc
Edit: see you have a shell, would be fooking silly to put a 8v in there, i stand by my s decision.

the gti6 engines can get 200bhp with just a fast road cam and lacking a cat, so its a significantly better starting point, but you will need lots of custom work to get it in. Its not an impossible task to do yourself but you need to know what you are doing as you are looking at custom mounts, I think a few mods to the inner arch, and custom driveshafts minimum. I'd imagine you would have to run throttlebodies as the inlet manifold is large, though a shorter radiator might work.
If you have the budget then go for it....

no this is true, but always costs more than you think. im guilty of it too.
It is fun tho, especially when you brake down the the middle of no where and its pissing down with rain. lol
but i stand with the whole, suspension and brakes with a good strut brace. Much better than moddin for power imo, and ten times the fun.

where do i start with this reply.
i like a challenge and have tried to do as much as i can to the bodywork that no one else has done. (to a saxo anyway) and i was thinking along the same lines with the engine but this where things are limited for me as i live on an island on the west coast of scotland (amazing roads for driving the whole islands like a tarmac rally track lol) so things get very expensive for custom made parts thats why im trying to find a big engine that can be fitted with reasonable ease dont mind doin engine mounts but custom shafts would be a bit hard to get hold of for me.
dont like new cars they look gay.
and wots wrong with a saxo anyway mine is brand new never been on the road so :clapping:
