saw somebody was right up my arse on the motorway last night and i was doing 65, they wouldnt over take so i dropped it into 3rd and planted my foot.

it got to 5000 revs and died, then came back again, like its limiting at 5000?

now when i try to redline it it dies at 5000ish

drives perfectly otherwise

can take a video if it makes it easier..

anyone know whats up?

yeah my friend thats your limiter. you can hear it bounce. btw whats with the flashing dash lights? i hope you let the car warm up first before doing that :P

wow, im glad mine doesnt do that, mine has a sensor that isnt in your pic as well

just above the citroen sticker on your rocker cover, where you have the clear block for joining wires

ok right what could cause the limiter to mess up?
the dash lights are airbag
and the other ones engine management light
comes on when its bouncing!

could this be to do with the other day when i tried to take the supressor off the coil pack and just earth it? the little black box coming off the coilpack connector, mine broke. But when i tried to just bypass it and the car wouldnt start and just loads of smoke came out of the engine. could of been then, it broke because its at 5000 the problem and i dont take it to 5000 often so it might of done it then!

also some of the wires began to melt when the suppressor wasent there! (see pic below)

it is keeping you safe, but would still get it checked out, could have done harm somewhere else (havnt even noticed mine limits at 6000)

yeah i will get it sorted, might go to a breakers and chop off the coilpack connector with a bit of loom and wire it onto mine to get rid of the burnt wires!

i was told at college the other day that if you dont have 1 of the earths on/there or not to an earthing point, then it will try and earth through wires that are there, which sounds like thats happened to you when you said you saw smoke and wires have melted! but im not too sure of the limiter problem though, id get that checked as soon as you can :)

ah right i see what u mean that could be it
im hoping it has only melted the wired just after the coilpack connector and not furthur down the loom thats all wrapped up!

cheers for that

i had this problem after i had my clutch changed was stumped for time then once i saw my arse i took loads of things off an found that the earth underneath the battery (the one that goes to the gear box )wasn't done up tight, so i took it off cleaned it an done it up tight put everything back to gether an it works fine now no probs
