Default HELP... Car dies at 5k revs?

saw somebody was right up my arse on the motorway last night and i was doing 65, they wouldnt over take so i dropped it into 3rd and planted my foot.

it got to 5000 revs and died, then came back again, like its limiting at 5000?

now when i try to redline it it dies at 5000ish

drives perfectly otherwise

can take a video if it makes it easier..

anyone know whats up?

it is your limiter did you feel a massive decrease in power like you put the brakes on?

ok right what could cause the limiter to mess up?
the dash lights are airbag
and the other ones engine management light
comes on when its bouncing!

could this be to do with the other day when i tried to take the supressor off the coil pack and just earth it? the little black box coming off the coilpack connector, mine broke. But when i tried to just bypass it and the car wouldnt start and just loads of smoke came out of the engine. could of been then, it broke because its at 5000 the problem and i dont take it to 5000 often so it might of done it then!

also some of the wires began to melt when the suppressor wasent there! (see pic below)

i was told at college the other day that if you dont have 1 of the earths on/there or not to an earthing point, then it will try and earth through wires that are there, which sounds like thats happened to you when you said you saw smoke and wires have melted! but im not too sure of the limiter problem though, id get that checked as soon as you can
