My mate has a 1.8 Vectra. He too now wants to mod it (Told him not to bother). He wants a zoorst but wants it to spit flames. My mate is very clever when it comes to electrics as he is a dj pritty much. He says you need a spark plug drilled into the De-Cat with the wire going to the coil pack of the car so it can always spark.

I said can you just wire it up to a live feed when the car is on, for example the radio so you don't drain the batterie. All you need is a 12V supply of power? (Enough to cause a spark)

I highly advised him not to make his car a flame thrower, its illegal and will fuck his engine up. He said how will it fuck his engine up and i said i herd about it, but couldn't actually back up my answear (So how dose it bugger your engine up)

a good friend of mine had a 2.5 v6 vectra

they laughed at my vts saying why have you spent all that money on your car when you could of bought a faster vectra and saved all that cash?

one lilltle play on the motor way and they soon shut up. vectras were never meant to go fast. they are family "cruisers" used for towing caravans and for taking the kids to the coast. telll your mate to buy a real car

they laughed at my vts saying why have you spent all that money on your car when you could of bought a faster vectra and saved all that cash?

It wont ruin the engine if its a proper kit with its own terminated wiring loom, it might set the car on fire if done wrong. But some of the bodged ones with an extra coil 'steal' a spark cycle from the engine and can cause detonation if the engines hot.

They are cool to look at, on a car that can spit an 8ft flame. But i love fire.


Tell him to do it properly, get a turbo kit, fit anti lag. :P

I'll keep quiet about telling him to turbo it.

He fitted DTM mirrors to a Mk3 Astra. He had never washed it in the year he owned it and wanted to fit 'Lexus Lights'
