View Full Version : my 1.1 forte water light is on after head gasket change

iv recently had head gasket go, got it all done by a professional mechanic and filled radiator back up with water and water light comes on as soon as car starts and never goes off, changed sensor on top on engine, any other things to sort it??

yes and have to fill up with water every couple of days because iv unplugged fan because its on continuously never cuts out.

That maybe y if you plug it in does the light go off?

lol, go take it back and get the coolant changed properly
having the fan on doesn't equal using water, its either got a leak somewhere or its shagged!

no when i plug it in the light stays on and the fan never stops.

I read somewhere else this is an ecu/sensor related issue. Apparantly the fan can be activated by the ecu temp sensor or the switch screwed into the radiator itself. Due to the light being on I would say that the ecu is reporting that that the engine is overheated when it is not (or that the dodgy sensor is telling the ecu that the engine is overheated when it is not).
