as above really what is a safe amount of boost to run on a 16v lump without modified internals?
Too vague a question - and no 'correct' answer anyhow.
Are you running a decent intercooler, therefore the inlet temps are going to be low - or are they going to be sky high.
What engine management/fuelling are you using to control ignition advance/retarding and ensure enough fuel is going in?
Who's mapping it to ensure that the management is set up correctly?
The pistons WILL die eventually - extra heat will cause them to crack and fail over time. But that could take weeks/months/years depending on many factors.
when i was talking to carworx a while ago they told me unless internals were uprated etc the boost would be set at 5-6psi
so im guessing that would be a temporary safe ammount
