Redex = Is it worth it?, I have an 2000 reg 1.1 forte and when I bought the car it had the service light on, since then I have only changed the spark plugs and next is the fuel filter.

Miles = How many miles should I have left when the red light comes on if I drive normally? How many miles should I be able to get out of the car with a full tank?

Petrol = Whats the difference between BP normal and Ultimate? and would I notice the difference in miles and performance?

Check = Where is the cheapest place to get a vehicle check from? I am weary about non-proven websites and giving my money and information to.

Service = Roughly how much is a service for a saxo 1.1 Petrol? If I changed the spark plugs and fuel filter do they get changed again?

A recent edition of Top Gear magazine had a small article saying the more expensive higher octane fuel is 17% more efficient that the cheaper standard stuff.

When I bought my Mk 1 VTR, I was getting around 33mpg using a 95 octane rating fuel. I now use only Tesco Super Unleaded or Shell V-Power and I've had 45.3 mpg. The red light used to come on around the 355 mile reading but with the £2 a tank more expensive fuel, the red light came on around the 410 reading. And I also noticed an increase in performance too.

p.s. I also removed the spare wheel and carry a can of Tyre Weld which saves on weight too.

Do you think there is a difference between VTR and a 1.1i forte in terms of petrol usage?

Yes. There will ofcourse be a noticeable difference.

There is so much hype about redex, i think it is good to use a a few treatments every now and again depending on how new or old your injectors are in the car.

There is also so much hype about higher grade and lower grade fuels and whether you see a gain using them or not. All i know is that i have a vtr with a well serviced engine, a supersprint race system and green cotton filter. I have been using shell v-power permanently without switching to any other fuel since about december last year.

On a normal tank full to the very top clicking it twice to fill up i get on a very good run 450 miles to the tank. I do use a motorway to get to work and back but it is by no means all motorway driving. Where would the fun in that be.

I think that to notice any difference in smooth running/power from using a higher octane grade fuel you need to run your car on it constantly for a good few months to clear out all the old shitty petrol you might have and use some redex round this period too. As mentioned above i have been using v-power from shell now for about 6 months and can honestly say i would never switch fuel down to a lower grade now. The engine seems to respond so well and pull so much smoother now through the rev range than when i previously used to run it on normal fuel from tesco etc.

I have rambled on but maybe that might help some of you i hope.
