which air filter?

i currently have a k&n air filter on my car. but i know the problem with open filter with hot air. so i was thinking what would be better and inclosed air filter or standard box and a k&n panel filter?

Imo BMC CDA or de restricted standard airbox with panel filter.

from listening to people on here these are probably the best options but some people cant justify spending £80 on a BMC CDA as the airbox will give similar gains. its down to personal opinion really. im happy with my bmc and would recommend one mate.

this is what i had before i put the enlosed on. used a green filter in the oe airbox then got a piece of pipe from another citroen that goes from the airbox (to remove the resinator) up to the rockercover then used some flexi pipe to the front air scoop.

Absolutely 100% the best piece of advise in this thread.

De-restrict your standard air box too, cut the resonator box out and plastic weld the hole up so you just have the airbox with uprated panel filter in it.

Can also go one step further and take all the intake off completely and wash it all out and give it a good clean. Then when dry, get some polish and work through the inside of all the intake piping making sure it is all nice and shiny once finished.

Might sound stupid but 8v's respond really well to this sort of thing inc panel filters.

I think kamracing sell them mate. Make sure you get the right one for your car though. If you need the cyclinder one then you have the early vtr engine and if you need the flat panel one then you have the later vtr engine.

I am using the green cotton flat panel filter for the later 98bhp engine, only reason why i didnt know where to get them from having got one myself is because i was lucky and a freind bought one for his car however didnt realise he needed the cylinder type instead and so i got mine brand new and half price lol.

id go for a green panal filter in the standard airbox or an eclosed simota/bmc this will reduce heatsoak as the filters are protected unlike your k&N where its just left in the open.
