its those little touches that can make or break a car, and your pulling them off so keep it up ;)
dsh85
25th July 2007, 21:35
lol the old splitter debate, thats going back coded but a less rushed attempt as i like the deepness it gives,
ive give it a right cleaning over last 2 days, machine polished with industrial
g10 and autoglym super resin. its shinging but the wheels are making it dull!!
just a little unsure on wether a simple silver paint such as bmw silver for example would work well enough, or will i have to cough up for hi power'd by pros... hmmm

Fresssshen up my friend!!
im sure youve heard that in the toilets on a saturday night before! well im taking the bog trolls advice
too much black on the car imo, thought id test an old method although this dosent mean its staying like this!!
in my opinion i like the whole look a lot better like this, but plenty of plans before trax although what direction to go im unsure off!
i think possibly i may just post up the new bits and bobs i will be getting over the coming weeks and then turn up to trax with whatever goes haha

dsh85
3rd August 2007, 15:24
still think the wheels are too dark myself tbh, its just the thought of going for a light grey or back silver!
same with the tints in certain looks i think maybe they would be better without them but i think the car would be missing something without them. its just the fact the wheels have made the car look a whole darker
your a fussy bunch to please :p but honest opinions are wat i like to hear!

I do agree Danny mate, wheels do seem a little dark, almost look black! (aka typical
chav meeting his buddies at DcMonalds)
Maybe a lighter shade might be spot on? But that means more money I guess,

French Car Show to Trax! the changes explained
ok ok, where to start!
going into fcs i had the sole idea in my head of selling up until that show changed my mind well and truely. as much as it was a nice car i was tired of the same look which im sure many of you can understand.anyways i decided that i would keep the car as i loved the driveability and good all round running costs this car was giving me, plus a little bit of the saxo has become a part of me over the last 3 years! so then....
the plan was to attack three aspects of the car in order to freshen up the car and make it feel like it was a new start in effect, but all in a subtle way as always!!
-Engine/Performance
-Interior
-External
let the pictures begin!
Engine/performance
Leaving FCS im sure you all heard me and my split exhaust, this needed to be fixed and set the ball rolling. purchased a full magnex from c8james and sold my old backbox, follwing this came a janspeed 4-2-1 manifold
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSC00792.jpg
this was then heat wrapped
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSC00796.jpg
and sprayed with high temp black paint
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/100_2216.jpg
big thanks to yates, leeroy and shauny for helping me get this done into the late hours!
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/100_2218.jpg
another change that day was to remove the resinator box and have a straight through cold air feed to the filter, which can kinda be seen in thee pics when i gave the engine a brisk clean over. nothign matt yates style
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN1031.jpg
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN1041-1.jpg
this will most likely be further cleaned before trax, although i have no real plans to show the bay so pointless?? lol
problems have occured however with the manifold not liking being lowered 60mm, its hanging very low and making the exhaust follow suit. its does not like bumps of any kind and will probably see itself on its way after trax for me to find a more suitable replacement! shame!
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSC00818.jpg
xantia v6 discs and new pads are sat in the garage waiting till after trax to hopefully stop the brembo squeel!! 2 new 195/40/16 toyo proxes have been ordered also
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN0969.jpg
thats about it for the perfomance so far, cams should be arriving this week i hear.

The last picture i left you with was of this
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSC00750.jpg
the wheels being resprayed in a dark grey which does a very good impression of black, this was generally down to the wheels needing a refurb, i had also played with mk2 standard rears there. anywayy next step
window tints became an issue after recieving a healthy fine, also they were getting a bit on the worn side so decided to take the plunge
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSC00760.jpg
much cleaner looking imo!
now this is a lesson to people who drive sundays still tired from going out the night before, how i managed to not see the parked up massive van i do not know, anyway add it to the list
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSC00816.jpg
it was nice of my mate to also circle it in permanant marker before i caught him writing something
anyhow bank holiday monday came and time to put the plans together, it turned up on the morning clean and as so..

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN1042.jpg
new plates also
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN1045.jpg
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN1043.jpg
trial fitted the splitter whilst it was still a bit wet was risky but im an eager beaver tbh. obv exhaust will have to be lowered down slightly
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/Progress/DSCN1047.jpg
that should be it for trax, splitter and smooth boot lip will be fitted properly within the next couple of days now the paint will be dry, quite dissapointed we didnt attack the weird door panel in time but that can be done afterwards, its more of a photo reaction than an in person one anyhow!
as for the wheel colour its massively grew on me, i dont think photos do it any justice what so ever, it has to be seen in person. so i guess ill be seeing yous on september 2nd ;)
that will be me for now anyways but definately not over, lovin the saxo more than ever actually in parts :panic:

Yeh the 4-1s tend to droop a bit lower than the 4-2-1's, it doesnt fare well with low cars
So the xantia discs arent on yet? Would be interesting to see if they do reduce the squeal. There are some drilled & groved xantia discs on that parts website too. Dont know if they would still be un-squealy though.

So the xantia discs arent on yet? Would be interesting to see if they do reduce the squeal. There are some drilled & groved xantia discs on that parts website too. Dont know if they would still be un-squealy though.
thats what worried me too mate, otherwise id have snapped them up. i think i also heard people may have got the discs from diffrent places and they havent worked so i stuck with the proven method hopefully.
im going to squeel round silverstone anyway, may aswell put the wear on them ones, no one has any excuse to miss me coming therefore!

Yeh probably best that way tbh, the grooved and drilled ones might aswell be gti180 ones probably. Might try them one day if noone else ever does, got a set of the xantia v6 ones to fit atm.

Right enough, barely a 4-2-1, but a 4-2-1 none the less. Although it follows the same shape as the 4-1's which is why it hangs down further than if the 4 into 2 join was closer to the middle of the manifold.

The End of the road.............
well on wednesday 7th december 2005 this came into my life
http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b272/dsh85/5627ecf7.jpg
and today, saturday 17th novermber 2007 i waved goodbye :(
its really sad to see it go but i knew inside it was time for a change, its heading for its new home now in crewe, so keep an eye out for it if you live there!!
currently im not sure on what i want next but with 2 weeks until the christmas party and no car. i best get a move on!
will i ever see it again? i hope so! the car has been my life for the last two years and opened a lot of new doors for me in a weird kinda way!
ill never really say a bad word about a saxo, sure they are better cars in ways but its been a ace 2 years of ownership!! i wouldnt rule out going back at somepoint either!
anyway thought id take some farewell photos, but in tru dsh85 style, the battery gave in on the camera! twice! so there limited!

When i drove it the other day thought something was up cos it didnt seem to pull as hard as i thought
TBH what is the code number that is coming up
I'd put it down to MAF sensor or coil pack common problem on VAG engines
lol, im going to get you one of those fault code readers when i get mine back, get it posted!!!!!!!!!
