Probably, anything can be done if you have deep pockets, would imagine it would cost alot of money tbh

c20let and xe are different engines. you can get them from about £600 up on the vaux forums.
imo, would be better off turboing the vts lump for the money it will cost.

so, im better off without the 2.0 engine and keep the 1.6 VTS, turbo it and change a few bits at the same price it would cost me to do the vaux conversion ?

it would cost more to do the vaux conversion. you would need custom mounts and shafts made, then make a new gear linkage up. then the price of your ecu and engine on top, as you wouldnt be able to use the vaux ecu.

Pretty much mate yea, would work out cheaper if anything to source a VTS engine and turbo it.

did the crazy turkish guy made his manifold custom or did he buy it from somewhere ? his work is amazing... got his saxo to 500bhp

That would be really difficult ... But massive fair play if someone did it.

i might ask my dad to buy me a low mileage VTS, and make it as a project.. keep it in a garage or something, then buy a little 1.4 to move around while the VTS is being done by time ..

just a rough idea..

im just day dreaming mate.. lol you willing to help ?!
ill get a job over the summer hopefully and buy either the 1.4 or the VTS, VTS will be hidden away from people's eyes and the 1.4 will be the future Andy Mobil

If youve got the garage space to use then yea, if youve got the money to spend im game for it :)

My dad works for a guy with loads of residential homes, he maintains them and build them.. some houses have front and back carpark.. we can ask and use some of his space.. but it might be limited.. we'll be fine !

apparently is at 500bhp+ now, and yes, thats the turkish engine.. quite fast for a 1.6 saxo, if its a 1.6 anymore lol ..

more likely to be a 1.8 turbo

I've seen a LET engine in a Golf MK4 before so it has been done to other cars.

i saw a mr2 engine in a saxo, but the engine was moved in the back so its RWD, and a turboed engine :)

has the 206GTI engine ever been put in?

Ferg
27th May 2009, 09:38
There's been loads of rear engine conversations ~

MR2 engines
Ford Cosworth engines
Honda Vtec engines ...

I'd like to see a suitable replacement for 16v lump up front tbh ... Maybe VAG 1.8T.
Obv weight is a huge factor ... Big heavy lump could destroy the handling characterisitcs of the car itself.

it looks quite a big engine. I think you would need to do a lot of measuring before buying an engine. It will need to sit forward quite a bit due to the manifold and turbo, so the bulkhead may need redoing further back. You need to measure height and driveshaft position on a standard car, then see if you fit the vauxhall engine with the driveshafts in the same position whether you have enough clearance at the front..
Custom mounts are the easy part
Also look to see what the vauxhall driveshafts are like, are they hollow or solid?

thx mate, i might stick with the VTS idea, sounds like loads of work need to be done and money to be spend..

imo, when you are asking a question on how to do a conversion like this you dont have the ability to do it. the people that seem to do the conversions like this just seem to get on with it.

i was just asking to see if anyone done a conversion like this before, so i don't do the same thing like them..

Its a straightforward job if you have the right skills. I know of a few peugeot's that have got Honda engines fitted. Probably looking at a grand or so to get the engine in (if it fits)
But then you have to pay for all the extras...
custom exhaust, modified driveshafts, loom, ecu
