i just want to see if its any diff.
im unsure about a couple of things
eg
4. Remove the gearnob (this is a struggle, I'd advise cutting it off and getting another as you will not be able to refit it anyway) and remove the plastic grooves (white on saxo, black on 106) that hold the gearnob on (either with a stanely knife or smash it off with a hammer).

if it's an aftemarket gear knob there will probably be an adapter underneath the gear knob, if not i would try to remove the white plastic very carefully so you can refit it. But i'm affraid that's a nasty job to do. i've tried it and failed...

The compbrake kits used to come with a guide but they stopped printing them (i guess that saved costs)

lame.
so ill need to get a new gear knob?
would the standard one fit back on>?
ive a spare one...
and what about the small hub that the allen key opens?
when you take that out how do you refit the tray mount.
(where the window openers are) that small unit

I refitted the mid console with some tie-wraps to the mounts of the quick-shift. If you have to remove the white plastic you'll need to buy a new gear knob or make some sort of adapter ring for your own gear knob. but without the whit plastic the original gearknob wont fit anymore

i bought a universal one on ebay, black leather, very cheap and it sucks big time(take a look at my progress thread last picture). still looking for a better one to fit but can't find a nice subtle black gear knob
johnlambert
16th June 2009, 15:13
that sucks!!
can you not get a outer shell to fit the gear stick itself?
then place the knob on top?
