Am I right in thinking the coil pack is fired by the ecu which in turn gets ainformation from, amongst other sensors, the crank position sensor? I would start there and then check for damaged/ trapped wiring etc. As you say fuses seem fine, have you considered the earth cables and earth connections (resistance should be zero ideally). Have you got a dodgy relay-again I don't know on a 16v but on my 8v there is a relay under the ecu that turns systems on/off for the ecu.
Maybe this is no help to you but I hope it is.
Good luck mate

i do have good earths allround, there is just no power getting to the coil pack so guna try that relay under ecu dint know there was one there so ill swap that and keep the thread updated thanx guys for the fast response.

i am completly out of ideas,
if the battery had gone in the key would that make it not start? i am on puch button start anyway so key only does steering lock but would imobliser still work

Righty, my friend mentioned with hers it was a mix of MAP sensor, crank sensor and a bad earth
scot-ish
2nd June 2009, 18:22
nah, map sensor woud not stop it starting, your gettin no power to the coil pack?? as said, this gets its info from the crank sensor about position of cyl at tdc, so this then configures the spark according to that, seems to me like your ecu is not working. there doesnt seem to be anything else i can think of as of now, ecu is deffo unlocked?? you tried that ecu on another car??
Be suspicious of the ecu m8. Is the engine out of the car originally so it ran before or is it a conversion? Bad earth also, take the earth off the passenger wing and wire brush it and clean both contacting parts fresh, same with the gearbox earth.

right checked all earths and double checed unplugged all loom and put back to gether have changed main realy under ecu and crank shaft sensor.
yer engine came out of car and did run before.
where bouts u from m8? U removed the small black box under your dash that lockes your ecu when you switch off? Although the standalone should work anyway. If your gonna try another unlocked ecu in make sure that box is d/c. Does the ecu/immobiliser light come on?

i from scunthorpe its inbetween doncaster and clethorpes
dont know if the light for imboliser comes on as there no dash left, and as for the small bllack box i will go try d/c it and try the standalone one again,

am i right in thinking that the coil pack wich i have no power to should have 4 wires on goes toa suppresser what eva that does wich is bolted to side of the engine and the other 3 one should be permant earth, one should be live all the time after puttign ignition on and the 3rd should switch between live and earth????
i have the suppreser one but all other 3 are dead and not an earth?
any one got any more ideas?

So i fitted new battery with gold terminals.
Now uit wont fire.fuel getting through.
took coilpack off and checked and i am not getting any spark.
I dont know even if the imobiliser bulb is in dash or working.
are there any rellays before ecu or fuses ect to check before further parts are brought?
It has a new toad cat 1 could this of reset ect???opens and closes fine.
driving me nuts and im skint grr grr flamin saxos lol
