Ive been quoted £72 for springs and £72 for retainers from QEP for my silvertop VTR. Is it just me or does this seem quite steep?
Anyone know of anywhere else i can get some?
Thanks :y:

Its not that much more than I paid for my last set and that was probably 2 or 3 years ago now. So with how poor the pound is doing these days I would guess that's not a bad price they have given you. You could also try Axnutty on the AXOC as he had a few new sets for sale at a very good price.

Piper ones work a bit cheaper - I'd go for those tbh.

Cheers, are they available only direct from piper?

If these are the uprated ones then they are probably some of the best on the market today.

Thanks for the answers.
What about these from piper, listed at the bottom of the page? - http://www.pipercams.co.uk/NewPiperWeb/redesign/05cams/citroen_cam.pdf
They dont seem to list caps so can the OE caps be used? Im using a fairly mild Kent pt40 but plan on raising the rev limit in the future.

I'm pretty sure you need uprated caps as well. I'm sure Piper did some - try giving them a call bud. :)
The PT40 is a strange one... Kent Cams and Cituning told me the PT40 is fine with standard valve springs, yet GMC say that any aftermarket cam in a silvertop VTR needs uprated springs. I went with what Kent as they make the cam after all! No doubt raising the rev limit with std springs would be asking for trouble though.

Ok so ive spoken with Piper and gave all the details of the cam and what i will be doing. They say those springs are fine to use with the OE caps for my application so im going to go with that and not use uprated caps.

Anyone got any info on what the suggested rev limit could be WITH both springs and caps put on an 8v, I'm going to get mine sorted next week, and wanted to know.

Depends what cam you have fitted - you want to raise the rev limit to match that.
The bottom end is pretty strong on the 8V lumps so with something like a PH3 (power band up to 7000 RPM), I don't see anything wrong with running a 7500 RPM limit.
