It sits so high up at the back it blocks the gear linkages, and also as its so high up it doesnt make a good fitment on the cat. It is also very near the oil filter.

I was told it was a stainless steel janspeed manifold and it came off a 16V rallye conversion.

First I did up all the bolts on the manifold and noticed I couldn't get the cat up high enough to meet the manifold so I undid all the nuts, attached it to the cat loosley and then did up 2 bolts (either ends) and noticed this problem(s).

What am I doing wrong? Iv attached pics to help explain the problem. The only thing I can think of doing is heating it up and forcing into the position I need.

looks like its bent to me man
there pretty easy to bend up like that if its been on the floor (or a speedbump)

Its a MK1, never ran this manifold myself. Guess it could have been bent in transit?

Bloody annoying, just done the gearbox and shock inserts and was looking forward to this *easy* job as afterwards i could run the engine :n:

No worries about cracking it, cold bending it back? Ok to bend it back whilst attached to the block...dont want to be snapping any studs, probably easier/safer to bend it back on the work mate I suppose.

nah take it off and do it

gently warm it and then bend it
id just straighten the front bend out slighlty to get it to lower the back

Looks like a GMC/ Piper 4-1 I rekon. They sit quite low so likely it's caught something and bent.

All I can get hold of is a propane torch, is it even worth heating it with that? Or will that be as good as cold bending?

Sorted

For future idiots like me, check you've got the rear engine mount on the right way.
