iv had a saxo vtr for some time , and was considering buying a vts engine. i have been told by some peopel that you can simply buy a vts conversion , whatever that is. is this true? if so , where can you buy them and have them fitted?

you cant buy a vts conversion as such, people breaking saxo vts's often sell 'vts conversions' i,e everything you need to do the conversion (engine,gearbox,driveshafts,ecu,loom,chip,immobili ser box)
Best bet it to look on Ebay, the for sale section on here, breakers?
You could do the conversion yourself as it is fairly straight forward and would save your self some cash, or any garage should be able to do it for you.

has to be the same year if i recall.
unlocked ecu also?
there are a load of good mechanics on saxp who are good guys and will do anything to help you

if your going to go to a garage be prepared ti have deep pockets. if you want to do it yourself it should cost around £500 for parts. something else will always crop up though. have a search on here theres plenty of people doing them

yeah, It is alot easier to get same plug ecu as your car, either 1 or 3 plug so that it is plug and play.
You can use an unlocked ecu or get the key and immobiliser box from the donor car :y:

vts loom
vts engine and box
vts driveshafts
best to get vts fan setup
someone tell me if ive missed something out

I wanted to do this, but i think your insurance company would quote this as a mod than a standard vts.

Mines just registered as a VTS now.
Have a search mate theres plenty on it. Its owrth upgrading engine mounts and manifolds etc whilst its all apart too.

Id love to do it, i really would. I just dont want the hassle of doing it and everything goes tits up cos the car is differently made to the engine.

For the price though? id rather just sell the vtr and buy a vts. Would be much less hassle.
you will need:
ECU
vts loom
vts engine and box
vts driveshafts
best to get vts fan setup
someone tell me if ive missed something out
I re-used the driveshafts, should be the same fitting
Vts top engine mount
Vts top radiator hose
New throttle cable
Maybs put a new clutch in while your there.
What car are you converting from?

Pointless for a VTR to VTS conv. to change the shafts admittedly but lower models need VT shafts are on VT ones are hollow and weak as fook.
VTR box is shite and not worth keeping lol
