so it will either be the injectors or the tappets

it is most likely your spark plugs or coil pack, your tappets only go around 72,000 on a saxo

go? go where? its not uncommon for them to loosen as the engine wears in and gets older. Spark plugs would only rattle or tap if they were loose other wise you cant hear them sparking when they are in the block.
Only vts has self adjusting hydraulic tappets.
Haynes manual has a good guide for doing them

is it more noticable when warm or cold? if neither then probs injectors or something else, if one or the other then adjust tappets (garage will do this for about £15-20) if your not up to it.
