Evening folks

My name is Roland and I'm new to the board. It looks a nice place!

I have recently returned to the PSA fold and bought a saxo (previously owning 1.6 and 2.0 Xsi 306's and a Dturbo 205.

I'm really pleased with it and it goes like a little rocket but recently the rev limiter has been kicking in at c. 5500 rpm and its really savage when it does happen. Also the rev counter drops off.

For some reason I'm thinking coil pack but im not very familiar with the Tu engines so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks and I look forward to contributing here and elsewhere on the board.

yeah it could possibly be the coil pack, best way is to plug it into diagnostic software and it will more than likely tell you the problem. many things can make this happen...

Rev limit is meant to be 6250 so does sound like there could be a problem.

If it's juddering at that rpm, I would say coil pack as well!

As above, more than likely the coil pack. Your ecu light should be on if that's the case

Thanks for the help guys. Got the car plugged in this morning and the fault code was "32 RPM sensor circuit" Which im guessing means the crank sensor on the front of the bell housing is faulty. Ive got one coming this arvo so ill fit it and see how it goes.

I had the same problem with this mate, does it get to a certain rev's then kangaroo the rev counter, there's a magnet in the crank sensor and this tell's the ecu how fast the revs are and speed, when the magnet fails and is getting less magnetik it cuts of the spark to the plugs therefor stops the engine from firing, its defently the crank sensor that does this so it should be fine mate, also when replaceing it dont drop the bolt into the hole as you will struggle to get it out :A: lol
