hey, i am looking for an induction kit for my vtr. been looking at pipercross and green cotton at the moment. i was just wondering which is the best out of the two? or does anyone know any other makes that are really good? Thanks.

well theres the bmc cda enclosed one but there about £160! your better off either getiing a panel filter or an enclosed induction kit (like the bmc cda) these types will give you more of a performance increase whereas with an open filter like the pipercross etc you may lose power due to heatsoak :) you can get them for cheaper than £160 :) take a look on www.kamracing.co.uk :)

i heard that enclosed ones arent so good though.. because when you are not moving they dont get a very good intake or something..
cheers for that website.. i'll have a look :)

that may be the case when not moving but your not stood still most of the time ;) ive heard generally that enclosed kits are better and if your worried about this problem just get a panel filter and replace the cold air feed with one that would be less restrictive :)

I have a BMC CDA and I cant fault it really.... but if you want it on the cheap as above, use an uprated panel filter and de-restrict the cold air feed...

no it should work as they do on any other car it just doesn't give as good gains as it does on a vtr as it wont give as good gains on a vtr as it would a vts etc. hope this helps ( i think thats right, ill get corrected if im wrong)

Green cotton panel filter
Remove air filter resonator box
Plastic weld remaining hole
Wash air intake thoroughly
Put all back together

Yer i would recommend a closed filter. I have the pipercross viper and i rate it over the BMC (have tried both). :y:
But quickly why would you want air getting into the iduction kit when not moving as the throttle body is not open and no air is making it to the engine?:homme:
Open filter only bring dreaded heat soak and give your engine a big hunk of warm air when you start moving. :n:

Waste of money imo
Too expensive for what it is, can get the same thing pretty much, just its not BMC for £40.

Heard bad stuff about the BMC. Poeple say its between the enclosed scoop type ones or the BMC type enclosed ones, but the BMC is too restrictive, and proves this on rolling road graphs, also they sound standard.
My choice:

Go for a panel filter tbh. Only open filter I'd go for is a K&N Gen 2 - proven good results on a Saxo. :)

Only induction i would go with aswell, if i wanted gains.
