hey guys
i've got a mk2 vtr and was thinking of getting a 4-2-1 manifold with the sports cat.
I've seen a janspeed one, but was wondering if there's any others out there??
i was also looking at getting a scorpion exhaust system. What do people think?

dont bother with a sports cat, waste of money. get a 4-2-1 and a mk2 cat and centre section to put on for the mot

theyre just a bit of a waste of time really, wont see much more gains than the standard manifold, cheaper and more power if you get a decat 4-2-1

yeah, a decat mani and whatever system takes your fancy and then look out for a standard mk1 vtr cat and centre section. some exhausts for a vtr will come wih one long pipe from mani to backbox, some have 2 parts so you can swap out just the first bit for a cat
have a look at this http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=209457

Have just looked under my mk2 vtr to see what exhaust system i have and it seems that the cat is under the car. Was wondering if it was using the mk1 vtr setup by a previous owner for easy use of the decat pipe? I am fairly sure that it is the 98 BHP model as have just had roller rocker kent pt40 cams fitted and they work a treat.

some mk2 cars have the cat under in teh change over period I've heard, although it sounds as if it could have been done due to being modded and it's alot easier to swap the centre section.

Oh ok thanks for that, its just a problem now because wanting to fit an aftermarket s/s manifold i will have to replace all of the exhaust system to match. Was thinking of using supersprint all the way? Seems to be the easiest to avoid the oil filter problems, cheers.

Supersprints are good from what I've heard like, had a supersprint system on my gti, was noise as hell, but I had cams and a pred as well though.

For a vtr, unsure of the gains, although my raceland, supersprint centre and piper back box sounded the best I've ever heard in my opinion and did seem to make it a bit nippier, although it's still only a vtr so not going to get massive increases.

Noise is not too much of a problem, would prefer a raspy exhaust to a booming one tho. I have a magnex rear silencer at the moment which is quite raspy, the reason i am looking into changing is that my cat has started disintergrating and tinging while the revs drop :(
