hey guys.

Mr Pred_VTR said i should paint the fan green on my car.

Only problem is i have a VTR so the fan is behind the radiator so cant see it.

Is it possible to fit a VTS double fan unit to a VTR??

If so is it much work/cost??

thanks :)

Yep, easy as fook, just unbolt the old one, remove the wiring from the fusebox and unclip the connectors, bolt the new housing on, replace the connectors, get funky with the spray cans

ok, so when i re connect the new double fan, where do i route the wires

If i have removed them.....

also i think they only come with one fan, you need to source the other... i think

Nope, you need the housing, and then another S' fan to go into the slot. Having twos just for looks though theres no mechanical benefits of the second unit

You dont really reroute the wires, if you remove the fusebox assembly youll see all the wires have connectors that are held in by a slider. You pull back the slider, take the old one out and put the new one in

ahh so basically only one fan is wired up and the other is just there looking pretty??

Good stuff, still unsure what you ment about pulling wires from the fuse box lol

People that fit em usually make a small circuit to a switch on the dashboard and 'turn them on in traffic'. Think thats just to sound cool personally, completely pointless but obviously looks funky and everyone loves crazy switches on their dashboard lol.

The fusebox, imagine it like a locked filing cabinet. The plugs wont come out until you pull a yellow slider out of the side, which unlocks the plugs, then they just come straight out and you swap them over

painted fans are almost as gay as cds at the front of the rad/intercooler.

Its not mega cost if you go down the S fan route though.

IIRC it cost me about £25 to put the VTS fan in my VTR..........depending on which VTS fan you get depends if you need to rewire it or not.

oh ok so i would pull out the old wiring, and fuse box connectors

Then use the plugs and connectors from the VTS fan and plug them into the fuse box inplace of the old plugs ??

Aye. Theres just a few other clips to simply connect and thats it.

Mines got a massive 6 wire plug that goes to nowhere though, and thats mated to an S loom too. French wiring is wank lol

ok mate, thanks for your help :)

Will have to get myself down the scrap yards and find a fan unit and then another fan blade lol

I remembered what I did with the wiring on mine!

All I did was remove the origional VTS wiring, and took the feed to the VTR fan, exteneded the wires and put them onto the new fan.....saves faffing about trying to wire it into the fuse board and the temp sensor.

hmm sounds like the easier option!!!

How you join the wires? gaffa tape or properly?

And are the plugs the same etc??

i took my vtr fan of put the vts one in got another vts fan mounted that in. then choped a few wires conected both fans together then conected that to the wire that was on the vtr . both fans come on so not for show . and painting them is tacky i think. its a very simple job to do takes no more than half hour good look

doubles fans has been done before on 106s so should def be possible. If i remember right they had both fans working too by using some sort of fuse in the wiring haha, am sure someone more technical could explain that for ya!
