Hi sorry if I'm being a pain...

But I'm sick of people saying "Ohh its only a Vtr" round my way..

Soo I was wondering...

How much would it cost to drop a 16v in it??

And what would I have to change??

Plus I think it would be cheaper than getting my Vtr up to the same standards as a Vts!

I'm really thinking of doing it... Not many Vts around here and deffo No 16v Vtr..

Thank You! :D

just ignore what they say mate

vtr's are better than some people think, yer they arnt quite as fast as a 16v but still fun to drive

its all about personall opinion really

but if you feel it is defo neccasary to put 16v in then go for it

your looking at over 1k to cam it and get to vts standards tbh though and to put 16v in depending on cost of engine which could be 200 to 500quid then if you fit yourself etc, you could pay anywhere around 800 maybe even less depending if you give it a full servbice before fitting etc and the cost of fitting

no probs mate

erm well you would need the loom, ecu and engine, could always use your vtr box, but the final drive is better on the vts box, so bettter to use that one

then while you got the engine you may aswell do things like cambelt kiot, water pump, clutch just give it a thorer service theres lots you can do to be honest mate

if you did the whole lot it could even cost upto 300 for service stuff tbh thats if you do the big things like clutch headgasket etc

but ive never done a 16v conversion, some one else may be able to answer that que a lot better, i could help more if you wanted to cam the vtr really mate

engine, ecu, loom. make sure you get one from the exact same year as yours if its early mk2, if its a late mk2 (y reg or newer) any 3 plug will do. gearbox is up to you but might as well use a vts box, i'd do a full service and change clutch while its in bits too.
i'd look to get a vts radiator and fan too but make sure you get the fan with all its wiring loom and get it from the same car or age as the loom you're using just for ease.
you'll need to run a fuel return and get hold of a vts throttle cable.
if you do it yourself and get the engine for a good price it can be done pretty cheaply. my conversion cost me around the £600 mark but i got the engine cheap

sorry forgot about ecu unlocking, probably closer to £700. then obviously i had to add vts alloys too so another £250.
cheaper and easier to sell the vtr and buy a vts, nowhere near as fun though
