Me and mate went out for a drive last night me in the vtr him in his C2 GT And we did the obligatory rolling first gear pull off and it took both our cars ages to start pulling i mean you put your foot flat down and nothing happens for about 3 seconds lol. Strangely though theres practically nothing between the 2 cars but is there anything low cost or maintenance we can do to get a bit more low down power?

He speaks the truth.
N/A petrols just aren't made for low down torque, that's the turbo diesels job.
They're made for revs!

one of those boost valves there universal and helped my golf , was about £15 is a little blue valve, may of been called fuel something or other sorry coludnt be more accurate but t be honest your best off waiting to do some serious mods like your cams etc since you get what u pay for if its cheap chances are theres a reason 4 it.......like it not makiing noticeable difference

I put a 106 Rallye downpipe on the VTR and dicked about with the airbox. Also found having a cat in improves low end grunt, as it kinda acts like an expansion chamber, but once at high revs it becomes more restrictive than a de-cat.
Luckily I never have enough patience to wait for the VTR to rev and usually give up at 4.5k! But it definately pulls well bewteen 2.5k and 4.5k revs.
