phase 1 / 2 engine swap

quick question can u put a vtr engine out of a phase 2 2001 plate straight into a phase 1 on a 98 plate do mounts match etc ? as i was hit yesterday by an un insured driver and have found a cheap replacement with engine probs

It bolts in but does not plug in. Its quite a lot of work to get it all up and running.

on ringing round a couple of garages been quoted £150 for the swap if mounts fit is that about right

sounds cheap for the swap, they'll probably get it in, find the wiring problems and ring u up sayin its gonna cost another £200.
though with a donor engine you can strip all the sensors and alternator and just swap looms i think

Same sort of thing if you are putting a vts into a Phase 2 vtr will it then matter on what vts it is as you have to change most things anyway???

get one with a 3 plug ecu and loom, its just easier
