hiya i have a 2001 saxo vtr standard, iv had a problem for the last 10 :wall: months. when i accelerate up to 5000rmp it wont go past it stops and sounds like its limited it does it through every gear but sometime it will pass 5000 if you leave it long enough. it also has a slight missfire when its ticking over and you can feel it a bit when driving too. iv had it to three garages and all three had the diagnostics on it and it came up with no faults on any. iv done a service changing oil and filter, air filter, petrol filter, and spark plugs which i bought from citroen at £40!! please can anyone help if they have any ideas thanks

sounds like the same problem as my mates clio sport,
so wen it doesn't go past 5000 rpm, wen u floor the accelerator does it rev past 5000rpm or just stay the same?
if thats the case its your throttle bodies mate, will have to replace them, it can be dangerous, it did it in my mates car going round a corner and all the power dropped to lower revs and nearly spun out

Lol, saxos only have one throttle body as standard and if it wont go past 5k I think the guy actually means it wont go past 5k.

Have you had diagnostics done at a proper citroen garage? It could be the coilpack if the car is misfiring.

hiya no i havent had it done at a citroen dealer yet i think il get it booked in. i had one of the diagnostics done at a citroen and peugot specialist but still no faults came up and i think they tried another coil pack aswell but it does make sense that it could be the coil pack. cheers.

in general it does feel like the engine has less power than when i bought it but maybe iv just got used to it. it just seems to be running shit altogether so it could be all down to the same problem whatever that is.
