Hi guys, My mate has gone from the quick silver to the 16v vts engine both were single plug ecu's, now for the issues.

1. The car starts to tick over at stage 2 of the key cycle (so the key goes in then on the 1st turn which is usualy the lights it starts ticking over.)
2. The first branch off the loom consits of 3 blue wires and a brown which plug in under the engine fuse box (what are they for as the connectors broke?)
3. Wont start!

So far the conversion went like this....
Dropped everything off the vts into the quickie, so the ECU,Loom,Engine,Gearbox.

The ecu was locked so he has put the vts key next to the transponder by the ignition barrel. which should then de-imobilise it??
Also he has a clifford alarm wired into his interior loom under his dashboard.
So there is no signs of the standard Citroen/peugeot imobiliser.

Is the clifford the issue? Any ideas to any of the problems????

Is the clifford an imobiliser or just an alarm?

The transponder is a black box that needs plugging in(in a VT it goes under the glove box), the key talks to the box via the ring around the ignition barrel. iirc. You got all that plugged in and wired up correctly?

Take a picture of the random wires under the fuse box and ill have a look for you. If you want any pic's for reference let me know.

We have got the imobiliser off of the vts but cant see where it goes on the peugeot quickie it dont seem to corospond to the same place where it is on the vts the clifford blackbox is wired in.
And the clifford alarm is both alarm and imobiliser.

"The ecu was locked so he has put the vts key next to the transponder by the ignition barrel. which should then de-imobilise it??"

Theres a 3rd part of the puzzle. a black immobiliser box. You need to connect that then try holding the key near to start the engine. once its running unplug the black box and it will stay unlocked then

If youve not got this you need the ecu unlocking. I can do it if required.

Yh he has got that part but there is nowhere to plug it in on his quickie, where it seems it should corrispond his clifford alarm is there.

:S what do you think?

well
1) sounds like its wired wrong so that needs sorting.
2) They goto live
3) you need your ecu unlocking!

If we find someone with a one plug vts could we put the ecu into his loom aswell as the imobiliser and then transponder then start there car then unplug the imobiliser would that then unlock his ecu and then swap the parts back and every one is happy?

Right, im buying a VTR today with quite high mileage, with full intent on dropping a VTS engine in. It's a 1998 R reg - Which Engine from a VTS would i need for the simplest fitting.. Didn't want to make a new thread as this one is pretty much on topic; sorry for hi-jacking dude. Any replies would be great, cheers

Go on ECU plugs if you have a single plug get a sing plug vts if you have a 3 plug get a 3 plug vts, thats the general consensus from everyone.

P.s Does anyone have any ideas why the car starts to tick over on stage 2?

i would say try getting a 106 gti engine loom on it

the vts loom is wired up differently in the multiplug so that could be why its spazzing
