i have been told that buying a pipercross induction kit could slow my car down because of the hot air being taken from the engines heat is hot and not cold. is this true?

its the same with any open air kit. the best choice would be to get a force feed induction kit like the pipercross viper kit.

yeah enclosed induction kits are the best for performance increase. green cotton do a good one.

An open filter could end up losing you power as it has nothing to protect it from the heat of the engine. An enclosed on is the one to get for performance as an open one is meerly for sound smileys/smiley2.gif

buy a 'green cotton' heat shield!! i bought one for a tenner, seems to keep alot of heat off.

which side of the filter do you fit this heat shield?

Towards the side which the hot air will be entering the induction kit. Engine Side smileys/smiley2.gif

There will be a new air filter avalible soon from pipercross called the Vforce. It should give you extra performance aswell as a good sound. I dont think it look great tho.

To be honest, from a little 1600 8valve - your not gonna be that affected by heatsoak from the engine

Any filters, open or enclosed are barely going to increase performance as it is, especially on such a small engine.

But if it came down to it, I'd recommend a BMC enclosed

i fitted a bmc after i had a open induction kit, they are much better as i think it makes the engine have more tourque.

The only thing you would notice was the throttle response.

Not a chance you'd notice increased torque I'm afraid

i have a bmc on my vts and a magnex backbox and i can hear mine sounds nice when you put your foot down. i had a somota induction kit like the green induction kit. they are very loud when you put your foot down. prefer the sound of the bmc over the somota.
