hi all,

right ive droped a vts engine in my mates vtr got every thing plumbed up and pluged in! she turns over fine but does not fire up! there is fuel in the rail and there is spark from the plugs! any ideas? cheers

What bout the ECU etc,is it the 1 that goes with the VTS engine? is it locked, could be the immobiliser?

yes it is the ecu that was running with that engine! immobiliser is removed now after it locked the ecu and i sent the ecu away to get it unlocked! any ideas? cheers

could be a multitude of things m8, pain in the ass but u need to go thru it methodically if u know what a mean, can u hear ur fuel pump priming wen u turn the key once i think it is, check that ur gettin a spark at the plugs and check theres fuel getting to the fuel rail.

ive check all that mate as i said ive got fuel coming to the fuel rail and ive got good spark on all 4 plugs! so im running out of ideas here! any more ideas? cheers

Check you main engine fuses, there the 40 amp and one 80 amp,ad simalar problems on me mk2 vts, like you and it was a 40 amp........fuse.:y:

cheers for that but ive checked them as well there all fine! the only thing i did she is the sparkplugs were dry when i took them out they had no fuel on them so mabe the injctors arnt opening but what would cause that? cheers

soz bout last post m8 lol, try all ur earth connections and wiring for the starter and alternator, make sure these are sound, sometimes the starter motor solenoid can be unstuck byt hitting it with a hammer for example,, injectors would be manged by the ECU which relies on various other sensor inputs, also theres the main fuel injection relay that sits below the ECU, check that.

ah thats what that is :P cheers for that my mates got a 106gti so ill see if i can try his relay! cheers ill let you know how it goes cheers

right ok more problems :(!!!!! the fuel realy seams to be working ive not had another one to try yet but it is clicking so im guess it works! i checked to see if there was any fuel on the spark plugs and yes there was but only on the two middle plugs both end ones were dry :S but the bigger problem now is there is now power getting to the coil pack :@ but there was the other day all the plugs were sparking fine! any ideas? cheers

i have checked all the fuses and earths!

sounds like it could be the wiring, try checking all the connections on the injectors, check this out, http://www.autoelectric.ru/auto/citroen/saxo/nfx/nfx.htm the 2 end injectors are linked by wire 1211, try tracing the wiring and have a look. same for the coil pack, trace the wiring ie wires 110 + 111 off ecu pins 55+37.

ok cheers ill try that in the morning also been told it might be the crank sensor so ill try that as well! this engine is a nightmare lol

tll me bout it am havin problems of my own, i cleaned my Crankshaft sensor and it did make a difference(mines was doin all sorts lol), am gna change mine as well, along with the map, and coolant sensor.gna get a new wiring loom as well, electrical problems are the worst, have u checked ur starter motor n wiring.

You might need another loom...........:detective::detective:

hmm hopefully not as it is not cut in any way! going to spend all day with the voltage meter so hopefully ill sort it if not set it on fire and walk away lol!

is it even attempting to start?all four plugs got a spark?

only other thing to check is ya compression.

if you got those 3 things you should be away, check compression of each cylinder mate

yeah but u can get water ingress and stuff that can seep its way in to the loom, corroded connections, loose connections etc, the VTS is quite torquey so theres a lot of movement in the engine i believe which can cause breakages and the like and over the years it just corrodes n shit.
If u have the patience and can work methodically, u can go thru the fuel injection system wire by wire, component by component and test away, checking for continuity will reveal any broken wires, check all ur earths this way, check for voltages and signal voltages and earth returns from all sensors, note that some sensors will only operate when the wheels are rotated.
Do u have the associated wiring diagrams n stuff.

hi all, right starting problem sroted thanks to sax-oli! and thank you all for your help as well! sax-oli told me to try the engine speed sensor changed it and she fired up :) ! she seamed fine drove her down the road and she started to run a little lumpy and staled try to fire her up again but she would not start :( so i opened the bonnet and it stank of fuel and i check the fule line that was still on so then i open the throttle body and LOTS of fuel pissed out of it :@ so thats what stalled it! the fuel is coming from the fuel press reg and into the manifold im wondering if its because ive blocked off the fuel return i did this because ive read on this forum that you can block it off and it will be fine???? any ideas cheers
