Not almost.. it is a step backwards.
Throttle bodies is what you want.

Also your car won't pass a MOT with carbs.

if my car was registered in 91 im sure you are allowed carbs on older cars!.. besides its only a part time remedy to get the thing running!.

you could set it to pass an MOT but then it will perform like wank.

Stop messing around, if you are going to convert the ax to a vtr then just do it right, if you cant do that initially then wait until you can, your opening a whole world of pain for yourself with talks of cam swaps and carbs.

right, you have a very good point!. but being a 91 ax it is allowed to have carbs (ive been told, wether they are right or not is another thing). having carburettors in my eyes make things alot simpler, cheaper, bla bla bla.. i would love to get this engine running using the multi point injection but i am still waiting on the manifold. the bloke i bought the engine off says he is posting it but it hasnt arrived as yet. then i have to obtain an ecu, loom transponder and keys. that is gonna cost me.. i found my ax gt was pretty rapid as a 1.4 carb`d so i was wondering what a 1.6 gt would go like..
my guess would be "alot better" but thats just a guess!.

its not that its not allowed its that the fueling will be all over the shop causing the emissions to fail the mot

if the car was an injection car and the mot place does its job properly then it will fail an mot with carbs. 91 is the last point carbs were used on the ax, and that was the early 91s, after that it was all fuel injection.

Some 91 ax gtis had cats on them by then, you cannot fit a black top cam in a silver top engine as one is roller rocker the other is not. Also the journal sizes changed. Black top didnt have knock sensor either.

if going multiple injection then go throttle bodies, carbs are old hat and have no correction for air temp (how does a carb know how hot the air is? answer, it doesnt, so it will always put the same amount of fuel in if the day is hot or cold. Not good if you have your car setup and jetted for a cold day then your car runs like a bag of crap when the summer comes.

TB's and fuel injection you can adjust all those and more.
