Cam Question

Will a cam for a 106 XSI 1.6 8v fit my VTR?
the engines both look the same

is this a mark 1 106 im guessing? i know the 106 XS 1.6 8v the mark two 106 is the same engine

its been painted lol but its 1998 MK1 VTR if that can shed any light and i think its come from a 1995 XSI

yea it should fit i just text my mate hu owns a mk xsi but he has got the 1.4 8v with a mk2 gti engine in but he pretty much knows everything there is to know about 106's and he says it'll fit if you have the black top which yea is the mk1 engine and a few early mk2's

best thing to do is go on a website and look for a cam for a mk1 106 1.6 8v and then look for a cam made for a mk 1 vtr and see if the product code is the same

how do u know? for some reason i have a silver cam cover but i have a black top engine i think they all have a silver tops for some reason, where is your cat under the car on the manifold

black tops have the cat under the car after the manifold and silver tops have the cat built in to the manifold so wat im doing is buying an straight through exhaust made for a mk2 so not only does it take the silencer out it also removes the cat in one go
