Its impossible to remove valves without taking the head off.
Tappets can just be unwound from the rockers but valves need the springs compressing then the split collets removed from the stem so you can remove the spring and cap. Then the valve can pushed down and removed from the mating face side of the head.
Id make sure they need replacing first though.

how would i check that they need replacing? when i adjusted them they got louder my mate said they prob need changeing. i set them as per haynes. but before adjusting them i checked the spacing and they were well tight all of them were set at at 20 on the feeler gauge. is it easy enought to do yourself or is it worth taking it to a garage?
thanks steve
