Gti-6 engine has been done many a time, also the xsara engine into a 106 rallye.

Saxos and 106s..
Just cars I know have been done. Pug performance did a gti-6 in a saxo at least 2years ago, I was there when they were finishing it off.
Not everyone who mods cars sits on forums and does progress threads :D
The xsara s1 rallye, was Ryan cooke iirc on rallye reg, he bought it bodged and did alot of work, i stopped reading RR before he finished it mind.
Then there was a forgiegn gti-6 saxo out at the ring when my mates went.
Pug performance gti-6 106.

what gets me is how people will see that and think woo it fits (even though its a lot of work)
without realising the inlet is where the rad should be so then you need to either move or get a custom rad
and you dont see the custom drivshafts
gear linkages for the box
throttle cable will be different
wiring
theres a lot to do

this is the first thing i thought about. could you not use one of the custom short inlets the gti-6 guys use when they fit superchargers?

first of all...cheers for your help, thats why i dont come on here or any other forums really. always some nob head on it. Thanks to the other members though who actually have given me abit of info about it. what engines would people recomend to put in a saxo? heard the MI16 out of a 406 goes pretty much straight in, obviously with a diffrent gear box and driveshafts etc...

just leave the vts engine in and tweak it imo
the several k you could have a bigger lump with would get a few tasty bits on the vts lump and it wouldnt mess up the handeling with a heavy lump up front

Didn't think the MI16 was an easy conversion either tbh?
Easiest and most cost effective conversion would be a VTS lump, or the newer JP4 lump out of 307's etc (1.6 16v). As Alex said, the money you would save in custom fabrication could be put towards some tasty tweaks instead

i was gonna do it but exhaust manifold positioning and custom drive shafts put me off big time, but would be fast and diffrent from the norm

Hmm didn't know the 307's engine went in? What sort of power do they have and would it be costly?

None of the XUs or DWs slot straight on by a long shot.
The mounts don't match up or anything, there is very limited space.
If you put it in correctly then the steering rack and bulkhead are in the way of the exhaust manifold, if you move it to solve that then it's quite far forwards. The sump sits very low also. You can only fit the 5 speed gearbox as the 6 is just miles too long.
I was going to do it for a laugh and i might still but just as a project on the side.
