....What a product! Does exactly what it says on the tin!
Before fitment the gearstick was loose and wobbly whether in gear or not. Gear change itself was sloppy and incredibly long - those on here with high mileage VTS gearboxes will know exactly what I mean.
I think the best thing about the shifter is that I expected absolutely no benefit from it whatsoever - you know the saying, 'expect the worse and anything else is a bonus'.
Well fitment took around 20 mins and there was a significant improvement once finished. I noticed immediately that the whole gearstick felt a lot tighter, stiffer and more rigid. Gear change itself has become slightly shorter and again tighter than the standard setup.
What I will say at this point however (and as reported by others on this forum), is that you may find gear change slightly harder and more clunky. This can be minimised through plenty of grease on both the gearstick pivot and gear linkages themselves. Once I got used to the shifter, and found my groove for each gear it became a lot easier and less force was required.
So all in all a very good upgrade - it will not cure your sloppy gearbox and gear change completely, but it will definitely improve the situation, which is something not to be snuffed at when you can buy a shifter £50-60 secondhand.
Very pleased :A:
PS: With regard to fitment - you DO NOT need to jack the car up, remove front end of exhaust, heatshield and then loosen the gearstick bolt from underneath. The bolt can be gently loosened from within the car with a bit of fiddling. This method is much easier and far less time consuming.
