Would it be possible to fit a subaru backbox to a saxo?
frankie
16th August 2009, 13:57
yes.....
bit of custom fabrication needed.

What makes you say that?
Power Flow make exhausts for every car, so you saying that cos i have one everyone else is a faggot?

so you can then chill at macd and show off that youve got a subaru backbox on your car
backboxes are made for a reason, the size / dimensions etc are there to aid airflow of particular cars,
subaru's and saxo's are not the same car

it wont make the same noise as the scooby, and the scooby as a special type of engine.
it will just sound dog mate.
a mate had one on his 106, wasnt to my liking.

A bit stereo typical there. Just remember you have a saxo too. I just wanted a simple yes or no not a gang war.
And regarding same cars a Peugeot 106 and Citroen Saxo are different yet the same car.

hahaha, 106 and saxo are the same, so that means a scooby and a saxo are the same
my initial argument was fitting a subaru backbox to a saxo is pointless as its not designed for a saxo
and yes i do drive a saxo, i dont go around trying to fit parts from other cars to it in the hope that it becomes as good as that other car ;)

16th August 2009, 14:31
Who said anything about trying to make a saxo as good as a subaru?
I just asked if the back box would fit
"106 and saxo are the same, so that means a scooby and a saxo are the same"
"subaru's and saxo's are not the same car"
Make your mind up
What about inductions kits, the same air filter just different fittings? to different engines.
Wiper blades, different sizes but not each one for a different car
Even oil, this list goes on
-------------
Im not some little spotty chav that thinks there Colin Mcrae and a hard core drug dealer.

the quote regarding the saxo and subaru being the same was a joke. obviously your humour isnt very good
IDK's are different, exhaust systems create pressure and air flow in the best way possible to suit the engine in gaining as much HP as possible, where as an air filter is just to get as much air into the engine as possible whilst filtering out the crap in the air, regardless of engine, the induction kit has the same task, where as an exhaust has to be designed to suit the cars engine
and before you say it, the different models of IDK for different cars are due to connection to the TB
wiper blades again, are only there to move water on a window, regardless of size and fitment they do the same job
oil is something that should be used in accordance with your engine, not just anything that you pick up..
care to make any other statements you wish me to clarify?

Its alot of bitching, considering all i wanted was a yes or no, not a lecture on exhaust pressure.
Thanks for your time all the same

i had a scooby back box on my car just for laughs tbh it was extremly loud and i mean EXTREMLY, but theres no real gains to havin it tbh cause of the back pressure iirc.
if you do want a laugh do it but you will be abused.
this was mine and btw i didnt buy the lexarse they was already on it lol.

haha. if you go thru with it gety some pics up caz i wanna see what it wud look like have a huge scooby exhaust stickin out the back of a tiny frence hatchback haha. obv it wunt sound like a scooby (which sound like they misfirein haha Evos are a much better sound :Y:) cas the scooby has a boxer engine the same as a VW bettle just abit more modern lol! good imagination tho mate lookin into different exhaust not followin the crowd gettin magnex or supersprint systems. :Y:
But to answer your question i guess you can make it fit with abit of fabrication and modification.

You can fit the subaru exhaust with a bit of work, best to take it to dealer like power flow or longlife. You wont get the sound thought as the scooby has a boxer engine.

No it wont.
Scoobies have different engine layouts from all other cars thats why their engine note is unique.

Try it by all means if you know what your doing anything can be made to fit, just don`t expect much from fit.

Mate had an import celica 5" jap can on his old VTR. Sounded shit imo and it was MEGA loud! lol

The unequal length exhaust manifolds on the boxer engine give the scooby the note and burble, not a backbox lol.

18th August 2009, 07:37
All Scooby backboxes are -
-
This big anyway, to suit the fact the car's got a turbo. So don't suit small hatches with N/A engines.

18th August 2009, 10:48
No it wont.
Scoobies have different engine layouts from all other cars thats why their engine note is unique.
Scoobies have a flat-four cylinder boxer engine, which will contribute mostly to the different engine noise.
So, sorry to go off the point a bit, but why doesnt a porsche with their flat boxer engines sound anywhere near the same as a subaru?
titchster
18th August 2009, 11:39
As Ryan said, Imprezas have unequal length manifolds and that creates the distinctive noise.
Although I'm sure I heard an equal length manifold is a common mod to them.

a subaru makes the sound it does because of the direction of the pistons. and you would just like the bad boys in the 1.1s with the beasty jap cans

why would you bother?
it won't sound like a subaru. thats like saying i've put a wheel from a ferarri on my car so it'll go as fast and handle as well as one
and your likening to oil + wipers = fail.

shut up. most of your aftermarket exhausts ar the same for every model its just the pipe is bent to the rite shape for easy fitting to each model of car. you can fit any back box to any car. i can c wot ur sayin bout airflow. but the scooby backbox would give better airflow.
the wrx backbox sounds amazin on my mates cammed 106 gti

but the scooby backbox would give better airflow.
Look at a Pugsport. Look at a Supersprint. Both are designed for the car, and designed to give good gains, and they do. Look at the backbox. Both at least have the option for a 2" tailpipe.
Boosted cars, ie Imprezas, want to get the gas out after the turbo as quick as possible, so a big bore pipe with a big tailpipe is good. On an N/A car, ie Saxo, some backpressure is required for the engine to perform at it's best.

My first motor was a Alfa Sud (rot box), but had a cracking 1.5 boxer engine.
These far outlasted the cars and are now found in a few kit cars.
Anyway the sound was awesome for a small engine.

hi
yes you can get one to fit. any custom exhaust place should be able to fabricate something for you.
on a separate note i fail to see why some of the members of sax-p cant answer peoples questions without criticism.
just answer the questions people ask. you dont have to go rubbing your opinions in everyones faces just because you disagree.
if we were all the same all out saxos would look the same and be boring.
