block on the side of my engine

hi all just wondering if i can rempvet the block of the side of my engine i have sen other saxos have their leads coming from this but myn dosent.

its sitting their doing nothing but i dont no weather to remove it or will it leave a hole in my engine??

it covers the end of the camshaft and will be full of oil

can get the later model part but will need an oil and filter change when doing it
