Was getting fed up of replacing items on my car trying to stop it cutting out and idling like a dog so took it in for a diagnostics test.
Did a live recording on the car been driven and it was all normal barring a poor lambada reading so this is going to be my port of call.
I assume its on the manifold somewhere? Is it easily accsessable and worth cleaning up? Or should I just opt for a new one?
Gavin
Also didnt know these ecu's were adjustable the guy adjusted the idle speed so it idles a bit higher now and its smoother now too :A:
Title edited, see further down for updates

where did you go to get it tested?
i get all my parts on trade, so im crap with prices lol....
yeah 60-80 bucks for a general cost from a garage fitted would sound about right.
but one fit it yourself, its a bolt and a plug.
two, buy it from someone like german swedish *can shop online and such* and pay ALOT cheaper mate.

Yer he said he would fit it but I said I would do it myself.
Just checked out GSF and it looks about £21 for me to buy :)
Will try and get out of work early on monday and go down to the nearest branch.
I supose this should tie in with my cutting out etc as it only happens after full open throttle use.

right took the sensor out today for a nose and to loosen it up ready for tomorow.
Gave it a blast with some carb cleaner and then took it for a rag around and it seems fine.
For the sake or £21 should I still get a new one?

7quid, i wish they was that cheap lol
i work for cantral auto supplies, and i have worked for gsf and it costs more thanb double that to buy from supplier
your looking about 30quid plus vat minimum from gsf

did you get that price from their site? cause im im pretty sure they prices dont include vat on the site if i remember right, so if that price is right your looking at about 24/25 quid maybe depending on the branch, plus it may be diff when you go in, say that price is from their site, cause they will more than likely try to charge their counter price which is sometimes a lil higher than internet price
but downside is the ones from gsf arent always decent ones mate, it could be a good one or a shit one, cause there systems are shit, from CAS its about 50quid for a bosch one i think lol

Right GSF cant get one apparently anyway :|
Obsolete so they cant order it in either :S
Been looking on other sites like euro car parts and there are two or three different ones that all are listed for my car!
My car
Model SAXO VTS 16V
Engine Size 1587 cc
Engine Model NFX (TU5JP4)
Manufactured 1999
Registered 30-12-1999
Transmission MANUAL
Colour ALUMINIUM/SILVER
Loads listed here
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_Saxo_1.6_1999/p/Car-Parts/Body-and-Exhaust/Exhausts/Lambda-Sensors
Some more expensive then others even for the same brand
Help please :drink:

Canterbury branch of GSF keep them for my gti.. they wanted just over 100 notes for a precat sensor (my 97 doesn't have a post cat one).
I've seen genuine Bosch sensors going on ebay BIN/new for £50 or so.

oh hang so there are two sensors?
I thought there was only one?
*becomes even more confused*

There are two on models made from 2001 onwards to comply with stricter emissions limits. So your 1999 mk2 will have only one.

where is the other one? I just want to check I definatly dont have two.
So if I do indeed only have one does that narrow down the selection of ones it could be on the list on eurocarparts?

What I have got on the car
Connector into the loom
http://www.corsasport.co.uk/carimages/5206/plug_2.JPG
Connector on my old lambda

Why is this simple task proving so difficult :wall:

That sensor isn't for a Saxo by the looks of it.

so all of the ones you have seen look like the connector on my car not the new plug?

Yeah mate. Admittedly all the ones I've seen have been 2001+ but I doubt they'd change the connector.
Above the thread, the lambda looks far too thin too. Been given one for a totally different car imo.

my lamda is thin ngk one but has the right connector i think thats what all ngk ones are like tbh but you definately have the wrong one order one for a 98 it will be the same as your original but gets rid of the confusion of 3 plug and single plug cars
gavin_t
27th August 2009, 20:36
what is all this single plug and 3 plug business :S
So if I order one for a 98 spec it should be ok?
Maybe 99 (the year of my car) was the switch over year.

He means ECU - earlier Saxos have a single plug ECU, later have a 3 plug. I don't see why a lambda from a single plug and 3 plug wouldn't be interchangeable. Had a pre-CAT lambda from a single plug on my 3 plug VTR with no problems.
Send/ take that lambda back and ask for the right one for your car dude.
