Is it worth it? :ponder:

I'm trying to reduce the weight on the front right of my car, and get things better balanced, so in that sense, it could be worth it.

Take a look at this link:

Does anyone know what one would fit my car? I've no idea of the required dimensions! Does anyone know the weight of the stock alternator? They also look expensive... :(

I need to lose a lot from the front right, so I'll be moving as many thing about as possible. I know this won't make a big impact, but it's a start...

Just fit a 1.0 one.

You only need a VT* alternator if you are running power steering ;)

It fits more or less straight on. Only issues are tensioner & pulley spacings. Ive seen it done though.

Is a 1.0 one that much lighter?

My vtr alternator bearing collapsed, so now ive got a 1.1 alternator on. 1.1 one is a little bit lighter, but like ~1kg?

Also i have power steering, and audio, And the 1.1 alternator powers everything fine.

you could also change the pully to generate less power as you'll be rev'ing high!

How does that help exactly mate? I really ain't got a clue... :S

Light wieght pulley may save your 2 or 3 grams to be honest lol but main gain would be making the engine a little revier.

It down gears the alternator too. GMC pulley is 1kg lighter so less strain by the down gearing and the weight.

I was up at Pug1off on Sat and he has some small ones in stock Toadus :D

Doesn't see much water mate. ;)

But its still quite big and you'll lose the metal supporting bracket too. Would make more difference than fannying with an expensive alternator tbh Toady :)
