My cat starting to blow at the start of the week. I searched online and bought a new one with next day delivery and fitting kit for a few pence over £54. I've fitted it myself (quite easy really) and took about an hour all in.
Just out of curiosity, I rang a Citroen dealer in Lincolnshire. To supply, and fit. £480 inc VAT
That's a saving of nearly £430 which will cover the cost of tax and test, which is due very soon, and a few months worth of super unleaded.

Its knowing where to go - I go to CES or Unipart, or order from Online Automotive, CES supply Kwik Fit with their exhausts, so I buy from them and fit myself and cut out the middle man lol
Anyone that goes to the dealers for parts in this day and age deserves to get ripped off. I get 98% of parts I need all from aftermarket suppliers - even radiator hoses and engine mounts, and they are a fraction of the dealer costs. If you think Citroen are bad, you wanna try Nissan, Toyota or Renault!

That's what I'm hoping. Got the old one in the boot of the car and getting it weighed in tomorrow.

cheap cats dont last long though, so you end up buying twice. You don't get as good scrap value for aftermarket cats either only oem ones!

Thats cos CES are only around the North west and Wales, and I always see the CES vans taking parts to my local Kwik Fit in Newcastle under Lyme. People might knock KwikFit, but I have used em loads in the past and still do for tyres. Cant fault my local branch - great bunch of lads, bend over backwards for me lol

Yup - true, I had a couple of old cats off my old cars and took em up the scrappies, they only gave me a fiver each for em cos they were aftermarket cheapos. - I thought I'd been conned at the time, but aftermarket cats are usually ceramic monolith and use less of the precious metals inside them, but for a cheap car, they are worth it to get it through the MOT. Most boy racers only fit the cat once a year for the MOT anyway lol
