i no this is probs a newbie question but is a vtr inlet manifold jus like the 4-2-1 manifolds or is that the part that goes before a manifold :S sorry jus bit confused

The inlet is the bit that holds the inlet manifold/throttle body/air filter etc. The outlet is where the outlet manifold is held, normally called the manifold...
So a 4-2-1 manifold is the outlet manifold. This is what goes infront of the engine and connects to your exhaust/downpipe.

Inlet manifold - at back of engine bay
Outlet manifold (Exhaust manifold) at front, covered up by a semi-circle shaped heat shield, unless its been removed or a aftermarket one has been fitted :)
