View Full Version : Important! : Group Buy: AT power throttle bodies
AndySAXO

Right,
i have spoken to GMC on 106owners, and they say that they will do a group buy again on the At power DTH throttle bodies kit,
get 10 people together and you can have same price as last time --£795 -15% =£675.75+£15 carriage +vat= £794.36
£300 NON RETURNABLE!!
deposits by debit card -no charge
--if paid by credit card 2% charge will be added.
payment by bank transfer or cheque -no surcharge
pay-pal 4% surcharge.
payment in full at time of order no carriage charge(£17.50 savings)
times are hard and I have to pay when I order them
so delivery will depend on when everybody has paid ,as order will not be placed till then.
I am assured next order will be 3-4 weeks ,not as long as this has taken.
the above was taken from what i got back from GMC on 106owners,
that is if we get 10 people with 300 quid deposit,
the for 10 people posted to your door it - £794.36
but they also told me if we get 5 people then the price will be £840 posted to your door!!
A saving a saving at the end of the day :P
so if you are wanting some of these get your name down, but please dont if you are not 100%!!!!

They are DTH so dont need an inlet manifold. You will still need to sort an ecu out. They are designed to run with OE fuel rail, Tps and throttle cable.

Hey Andy, thanks for the heads up on this (PM very much appreciated :y:

So heres my situation..
I have a VTS. As soon as Pred releases the 3 plug ECu i'll be buying one and getting catcam708's.
Assuming i ahev this done. What would i need to get these TB's up and running?
So £700-£800 for throttle bodies.. but then what? any otehr costs? how much would fitting be?(just a guess because i know people charge different)
or could i fit them myself?
Just trying to weigh up whether its worth it?
How much BHP would i be looking at with 708's, TB's + remap?
Sorry for all the Q's but might help otehr people aswel :)

Could all 3-plug people see if they can get a 3-plug PLUG? ie ECU??
I'm getting the USB circuit sorted, the onboard wideband, and the coolant dash gauge is already sorted.
John @ GMC is sourcing *some* ECU's for me to rob the plugs off, but he's having some issues, so the sooner I have 10 plugs, the sooner I can do a group buy... call yourlocal scrappies guys and get these plugs!!!
I've got 4 at the moment!

right no power figures have be taken for these yet, but GMC say that they flow well over 200 bhp!!!
also these are DTH and plug and play types, so very basic to fit compare to other bodies!!
it not the top end bhp you should look at most, it the mid range that will increase, aswell as torque aswell!!
Exactly the same situation as me mate!
i am picking mine up tomorrow as i was offered some of these at the group buy price from a lad who no long is fitting them!!

thecherry0121 is running these with a predator ecu, no Dyno result have been done with these but someone on SSC is getitng them mapped on a dyno on the 24 oct!!

1st pic as you can see there is a mile between scuttle and trumpets so yes a filter can be run

Looks plenty of room for a filter.
With mine, I've covered up all my loose plugs with engine loom tape and tied them out the way to stop them getting damamged. I've left them on as it allows me to go back to standard inlet easily if I need to.

I suggest you go for the standard stack length GMC/ATP supply otherwise you will struggle to get a filter backing plate to fit as its close to the brake balance bar.
You may be able to fit slightly longer trumpets although if you intend to run a dome/sausage filter with the correct trumpet to filter clearance you may struggle.
The trumpet length supplied is 40mm, cutting the scuttle may aid a bit more air flow but because of the trumpet angle to wont have the trumpets sitting in the void.
pjm300
6th October 2009, 08:19
exactly. after looking at a set of these installed, if you wanted longer trumpets then you cant cut the scuttle. well you can, but you'd need to go half way down the bulkhead! if you want a long induction length, then get a set which is angled up more, like the sandy inlet on jenveys.
AT_Power
6th October 2009, 11:25
Yes the standard length is a 70mm extension and a 40mm ram pipe (trumpet). We do longer extensions as well as ram pipes, and it depends entirely on what filter you wish to run as the man said.
Someone should have tried out some 90mm long ram pipes, but I haven't heard back from him so I'm not sure how that went on. You will struggle with a sausage filter and 90mm long ram pipes I would think, but I haven't had a good look myself so I can't say 100%.
Thanks,
John.

Ahhh, didn't realise that the ATPower bodies are angled slightly lower than the Sandy/Jenvey set-up.
No scuttle cutting then :n:

yes the angle is different, the flow is very straight into the head, i seen jens on sandy brown inlet, to be fair it doesnt look as nice as these! that is just my opion by the way!
and i think the ram pipe i have got are just about Right, as a filter will get in there without cutting anything,

Thanks very much for the input John :y:
so really with that size itll be perfect for fitting the filter, and once the filter is on theres still adequate room from all angles to get the air in, and not have any possible restrictions that having longer trumpers possibly give by having half the filter pressed hard against the fire wall/restricting area for which air can pass through?
Are 'trumpet socks' any good?
Also (sorry for being a pain) with the fuel rail that you can also supply is there an option of having this black too rather than the normal stainless finish or is that something which id have to look into?

I would think this filter looks big enough to go over 90mm long ram pipes reasonably well, but you need around 25mm on top of the trumpets ideally so it would need to be 115mm deep inside. It looks at least 100mm deep to me,
This is ClarkeyVTS from SSC,

You might just get away with 90mm trumpets and a large filter, although it would practically be rubbing on the bulkhead.
I would say 80mm trumpets would be a good size to use with a filter.
Although if the standard supplied length is producing good figures then no need to change unless you want to alter bhp/torque charecteristics.
Dont run filterless, thats nearly as bad as running open cam covers.

That would suit me down to the ground to be honest. A large chunk of my 'power' is top range of the revs at the moment so bringing it down the rev range a little and producing some more torque would be perfect
The sausage filter in the pic does look pretty hefty, are there slimmer versions out there thatll work just as well but would clearly allow the longer trumpets without issues.
Its been annoying me so much this week with the hours that ive been working as ive wanted to actually call GMC or speak to AT direct with a clear list of options and get them ordered but ive been working solidly til well out of office hours

willsy itg do a slimmer version you just need to work out sizes and tbh i think standard size trumpets and ram pipes are fine at the end of the day when yo way up the hassel of longer ones to the amount of extra bhp or torque you may gain it just doesnt warrant it for me anyway

Pipercross do a wide range in both "Box" type and a "Domed" type filter.
See here http://www.thepipercrossshop.co.uk/competition_px500.asp
If you stick with the 40mm trumpets as supplied, then make sure you go for a filter with an internal height of atleast 60mm.
You will also need a plain backing plate which you will then need to drill the correct size holes at the right centres to fit in between the trumpet and stack.

I'd be using longer than the standard if it was me, they look far too short! I'd get the 90mm ones then modify them if needed to run the longest possible without cutting the scuttle / bulkhead & allowing enough room for a Sausage filter

i just order one from AT power to siut the bodies,
also yer longer is better, but i think with 90mm truppets the bulkhead might need to be cut to fit an filter,
the standard ones are 70mm, they do look shorter in the pictures as the angle difference.
i am going to see how i get along with standard size for now, then i can also way buy longer ones if i fell they are not right.
well as someone else has pull out aswell!!! i guess this group is not going to happen now sadly, i am sorry for everyone that wanted to but, the intested is not here at this moment,
