anythings possible... just depends how deep your pockets are. insurance prices are high for a reason, its so easy to push your luck too far and this was just heading to work on a friday. 2 years experience driving a vtr not a problem, 4 weeks in a (mint) mk1 vts -

if you do take the plunge... be careful

Hmmm...seems dodgy to me. When you say you were a named driver were you the using the car most or are you still using the car more so than the main driver?

i'm the policy holder, main driver. no named drivers.
its with adrian flux, tpft but on like for like, if the car goes walkies i get the value of the car and the brand new value of each individual mod.
i was quite happy for £540 :y:

Abit confused by that.
My old Saxo was registered in my dads name, the policy was in his name. He was the main driver on the policy and i was the named driver, but in reality i drove the car everyday and he drove it once every 6 months. This was legal to do, this was what we was advised to do by a senior advisor at the office of the insurance company.

No, fronting is where you are a named driver, but in reality you are the man driver. You are lying to your insurance company, and god knows what that "senior" advisor was thinking.

He said its frontin where:
My dad is the policy holder and main driver
Im the registered owner of the car
Im named driver

Not as simple as that. Fronting is where you imply that someone (In your case, your Dad) is the Main Driver off the car, even though you are really the main driver.

Well whatever it is, dont matter anymore. on my own policy now :)
What about churchhill and tesco where they encourage first time drivers to go named driver and get no claims.

holy shit!
i don't understand why people struggle with insurance so much, i've been thinking of changing my car lately, these are the insurance qoutes i got on modified cars
RX7 valued at £4.5k - £1004 tpft
S2000 valued at £8K - £1300 fully comp
supra twin turbo manual valued at 10k- £1600 fully comp
thats my own policy, no named drivers and i'm 20 with 3 years ncb and no points.
Phsyco_Paff
30th September 2009, 13:49
23 with 3 years no claims and im paying 600 full comp with 3 points with adrian flux i would stick with the vtr only 8vs and 27bhp diffrence for now and wait till your at least 21 befor takeing the plunge and youll also have more driving experience behind you:y:

i'm not much use as i'm 20, but got quoted £1800 f.c, no ncb, 1 claim for £1500, 2yr 9months drivin, with mum as named driver and her claim registered, £300 excess, Admiral. not too bad for a group 14 car imo
edit: insurance prices shouldn't be your concern btw, it's whether you think you are safe to drive a vts, i'm waiting till next year as even after driving nearly 3 years i still reckon i'd do something stupid :)

I was 18 (nearly 19) when I dropped the S engine in my Furio. No-one would insure me (stupid prices like £3000 plus). Turned 19 2 weeks ago, £1700 Brentacre.
But like what's already been said on here. People get quoted various different prices for no reason at all...
People say conversions, like Furio with S engine (like what I did) are cheaper... I say... Bollocks! I did quotes on a standard VTS on bell when I was 18 and I was getting £1300 fully comp, all mods declared, mods cover etc... Bell with Furio with S engine = no insurance for you sir...
