Hey,

This might be a silly question but im pretty clueless on the subject. i have a 02 vtr and my engine management light seems to be on for a bit, then may go off for a few days only to come on again at some point :wacko: The car is due for its MOT on tuesday and I am wondering if the engine management light being on will be a problem?

Any help much appreciated, cheers.

In itself the light showing isnt a problem.
But the under lying issue causing it to show may cause a fail.
I e if its a lambda fault then you may fail emissions.

sorry for the hijack but I have a similar problem but mines the airbag light, would this effect MOT?

my airbag lite has the same problem will it affect the mot?

airbag light maybe fail the m.o.t yes. as with it on theres a fair chance the airbag wont work. And obviously for an m.o.t if its there it needs to work.

Depends on what place you take it too however.

Airbag light is an advisory, not a fail :)

my light is on and i think its for the knock sensor. is this a fail in an mot?

The airbag light isent a fail just a pass and advise
engin light isent a fail just advise
but as swampy said its whats causing the light to come on may b a problem
IE- a emmisions fault will put the light on and fail a test
but a knock senser will put the light on but as long as the emmisions are ok it will pass
best get it checked out if u dont could cause the cat to fail and the mpg will be greatley reduced
most garadges dont charge much to find the problem via the OBD citreon charge around 70 quid but a kwik fit will charge 29.95

dont worry about till you have a accident and spend houres picking bits of dashboard out your forhead and the steering wheel from around ur neck thats if u survive remember saxos didend score much in the car safety tests think it was a 2 star
or 3 think safty first no point haveing a mot if you got a steering wheel boss in your head
