Hi
If you remove the catalytic converter from your exhaust system will the car definately fail an MOT?
If so, how do people that remove their Cats get their car to pass an MOT?
Cheers

Wont DEFO fail but stand a high chance of failing. To get round this you just put the cat back into the system

Or try and find someone that will sort you out with a bent mot. I thought that all cars after like 1992 or something had to have a cat in regardless of emmisions or is that wrong?

if the car is well serviced and ran up to temperature before the emissions test is done it can pass without a cat. best way is to just put a cat back in for the mot, takes 20 minutes

Doing it to a phase 2 will be a pain in the arse, gaskets needing changed over and over etc as I'm about to find out...

i assume you mean putting a 4-2-1 in to remove a ca in the mani? if so get yourself a mk1 centre section and cat that just bolt in underneath

I was thinking of doing that, but the flange on the centre section (to box) is smaller than my backbox flange, so I'll just moan at MOT time and refit the old mani :n:
I don't want to weld the backbox and centre section on incase I feel like changing it in the future...
