You could get oil seals whilst shafts are out

Is it a big job? Think mine are on the way out ive got a nice clonk clonk clonk when on full lock parking etc :(

yep mine used to do that all the time when i drove like a mad man... its not hard to do at all. i have changed mine loads of times and im far from a mechanic lol.
is that the cheapest you could find the shafts for new?

Yeah, deffo do the oil seals - I didnt do mine when I changed my shafts and then 1 started leaking. Had to take it all to bits again to change the seal. I tried one from a bearing specialists to try to save some dough, but thats leaking now lol.
Off to the dealers tommorrow to pay ££££'s for a genuine one (they are about £11.50 each side). Shaft off for the third time. Bugger!
BTW When you take off the bottom balljoint pinch bolt, it has a nyloc nut, and it should be replaced as well, as when I tightened it back up using the old one, it stripped the threads and wouldnt tighten properly. My top up plug was in the side of the gearbox, but thats th Mk1 1.1 though.
