right ppl, im using a t2 or t25 turbo with my conversion and was having a little play in my mates 200sx yesterday which has a screamer pipe fitted;) after having a little toy around i fell in love with it and decided i may incorporate one in my project IF it aint gonna be mega fuck on, has anyone fabricated anything to use before or know how much of a stroll on itl be to fit said item to a turbo with an internal waste gate as tbh i dont wanna change to an external, i know it has been done a few times on various cars but theres often issues with it leaking during normal driving although it does work ace on full boost, reason i ask the crowd is i havent yet purchased my turbo unit so i can have a look at the set up and establish the work involved:n:#

nice one mate, shouldnt think it will be too much, just rumours ive heard with leaks in driving, i think that will be due to shitty fabrications.....what i really need is to buy the turbo and then i can see for myself,

ps did you take any pics of yours when you done it?

what does a screamer pipe do?

blackie_2k5
14th October 2009, 18:10
screamer pipe is a short piece of exhaust that attaches to your wastegate and when you reach full boost it opens and dumps the waste gas via this pipe, sounds awesome...like a jet taking off, helps with power slightly as it it stops turbulence in the system by not having it plumbed back into the main exhaust,

thats a screamer, ok on normal driving f you keep revs down but when you floor it and get on full boost....said jet fighter takes off from under your bonnet lmao

must point out by law they are meant to be plumbed back into your exhaust but that defeats the fun and 90% off ppl on here runs decat so youd defeat the purpose anyway, and it makes them very loud which is why you dont see them too often, for the same reason not many track cars have them or when they do theyre plumbed back into the rear of the exhaust sytem to reduce the turbulence

"big cal" on here has got one.

normally the noise of them is over the limits on some tracks. so most track dayers dont run them.

+1 thats why they arent too common or if they do theyre plumbed back into the rear of the sytem to reduce turbulence:y:

Its easy enough to fit if its a 5 bolt Garrett turbo you have. But people are correct in that most tracks don't like them and your going to have to have a very friendly MOT tester to even think about passing one these days

alot easier with an external waste gate buddy, check out tangoedvts's he only paid £40 for his waste gate and runs a screamer out his wing.

you can get a downpipe of ebay for the 200sx t28 which has a screamer pipe on for the internal wastegate. my mate has it on his.

have seen them mate but not wanting to run a t28 tbh im only going 8-9 psi for the time being so i think the 28 would be bigger then my needs, plus arent those the ones that leak when not on full boost ie jus low rev driving keeping out of boost?, sound like the exhaust was blowing? was just going to fabricate one as itll be a p.o.p just wondered if anyone else had, suppose i could buy the t28 one and modify it to suit properly what i want, thyre only about 20 iirc? t28 should fit near enough anyway to a t2/t25?

T28 one for a 200sx will fit a T25. S13s came with a T25 as standard for reference. As said tho they do leak when off boost unlike an external wastegate. Tis upto you really, keeps back pressure down.

If theres room you could go for

think i may just modify a 1, surely they cant be made to stop leaking, probably just less cost effective to make them like this generically, will have a further look when i buy the urbo unit, cheers for the help
