On the 106GTi demo car that we used at Piper that had:

Piper manifold
Piper De Cat
Piper System
Piper BP270H Fast road cams
Piper Verniers
Longman Ported head (Std Valve Sizes)
Mapped at Longman (Std ECU)
Pipercross Viper induction kit

That made just over 150bhp on Longmans Rollers

Then we fitted Throttle Bodies to the car later on, also fitted a set of Piper BP285H cams and a mappable ECU and saw figures around 185bhp on stock bottom end.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards

google it? i was after something specific to the vts engine i thought this would be the best place to ask!?

probably on a near standard engine its best to just get a bit of work round the valves to improve flow.

Google is the best place for that question. I'm not totally clued up on porting a head other than smoothing parts etc

Garry,

what Injector/FPR combination are you using at 185bhp?

Andy

Im not sure to be honest. Longman did the spanner work on this engine and we supplied the newly designed parts. Had many different profiles fitted and tried before the ones we settled upon :)

I know longman fitted a adjustable FPR but am unsure as to brand or setting.

do raceland do a 4-1 as kam only list a 4-2-1? wanna get a supersprint system with the small tail pipe, kam did a system but now they list it with their own backbox, anyone no if these are any good?

Ryan
28th October 2009, 18:06
racelands are 4-2-1 only...

nickwillyhams
28th October 2009, 19:39
oh right well from what i understand the 4-2-1 gives a wider spread of power whilst a 4-1 give more top end power!? am i right so far?? the kind of power im after is really top end anyways, i dont drive a lot an the drivin i do is country lanes dual carriage ways etc where im reving the bollocks off it anyways. therefore i thought along the lines of a high pressure exhaust system i.e. the supersprint race one, manifold im unsure atm but pretty sure of a 4-1. then some light headwork done retainin the standard valve sizes, then setup on a rr. like i said i dont mind the low/mid power staying like standard really just so long as a get a decent high range from it all. does this sound about right then? cheers

nickwillyhams
28th October 2009, 19:43
oh and the ph3's i forgot them oops

Ryan
28th October 2009, 19:50
its not just 4-1 vs 4-2-1 bore size etc etc...

just get a decent 421 like the supersprint its proven to work well

Is there much difference between the raceland and the supersprint manifolds?

Is there much difference between the raceland and the supersprint manifolds?

Build quality is the main factor.
I know people that has had to re-position the holes for the raceland manifold to fit onto the head.
I had the supersprint and there was no problem atall with fitting.

I would recommend the supersprint highly.

KamRacing
29th October 2009, 10:13
the supersprints joins are all properly welded and finished off inside the manifold to give a smooth gasflow. The raceland is not finished off this way.

The backbox is designed to be a direct replacement. It has the same bore internally as the aluminised steel supersprint backbox. The tailpipe is only marginally bigger so not to affect the pulse tuning. Its good :D

Thanks mate read that on the site but is it really worth paying nearly double, would the gains be the same for each?

nickwillyhams

you get what you pay for then basically
