Occasionally my engine squeals when i start it up....sounds like a fanbelt noise but i know i don't have one of those!

Any ideas?

Also what will stop my engine tapping so loudly!

It's electric, no fanbelt

You dont have a 'fan belt', but this item is actually called a drivebelt.

THis is probably what is causing the squeeling, as the belt around the alternator/pulleys will be loose. THeres an adjustment screw to tighten this up.

Tapping could be many things and more details are needed - more than likely the tappets need their gap resetting (unless its a VTS?)

No its a VTR, i replaced the auxilary drive belt a few months ago so do you think it has loosened in the 1st few months of use?

What info would you need to have an idea what the tapping is?

vtr might need tappets adjusting or oil changing, vts needs either oil changing or new hydraulic tappets (280 from citroen)

For some reason mine has started to be quite noisy as well when I start it up. not belt but possibly tappets like everyone is saying. Basicly sounds more like a bloody diesel when started up for about 1 minute or so and then quietens down to normal level...

Any ideas.....

I know I've got the c2 but the cars engines are essentially the same so you guys can think of anything about the noise in mine.....

ok, i got told mine was the tappets and that itll cost me £25 to sort it out and make it quiet again.. this a good price?

£25 isn't a lot so if it sorts out the noise it all sounds value for money to me!!!
