Hi friends.

I have a Saxo 1.1 I'm making into a Rally Car for 1,300cc or less Rally's

I'm onto my Engine, I would like to put a nice little cam in it, but I have to keep the stock pistons... I've been looking at some VTR Cams that Pipercams do and they said that the VTR Cam would fit in the Engine, but they're not sure about the Valves hitting the pistons. So has anyone tried this? Or does any of you know if they would hit?

Thanks :)

Would be much easier dropping a 1.3 rallye lump in imo. I've got a 2002 VTR (98bhp) cam for sale if you wanted to go down that road though? Would be trial and error really, i.e swapping cam and turning the engine over by hand to see if there's contact.

That's what I was going to do, just turn it over to see. But I can't really take it back if it dosen't fit :(

Only want £15 posted for my VTR cam - see here (http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=259676). Won't break the bank at that price. :)

If there's contact, could try picking up a vernier pulley and adjusting the timing until there's no contact?

Put a S1 Rallye engine in.
Start with the best.

I do want an Engine swap at some point, but I've just rebuilt this Engine so I want to use this engine for a bit first :)

Perviding I find a nice lumpy cam for it lol

If you can have 1300cc in the class then go for 1300cc.

No point in starting with a smaller engine to begin with, get the 1.3 then cam that and you could have a pretty quick car for the class :)

Agree with the masses, if you can get hold of one the 1300 Rallye engine is a lightweight 100bhp unit that will piss all over everything else in its class. Budget is obviously a factor though

A stripped out saxo, with a cammed 1.3 engine along side some headwork, breathing mods and a few other things could potentially be a class winner imo

Yeh, that's what I thought after I started working on the car :(

I've done loads of work on it now so I might as well use it, all I need is a cam to get it running but I don't really wana stick a stock cam in it if I can put a Racecam (Or near enough) in it. So basicaly if it can be done I wana do it :D

what inlet system are you useing / what can you use?? cant you just use somthing like a vtr head on it keep the 1.1 bottom end so it would still be a 1.1?? not to clued up on this but it wouldnt take alot to do that, if not bike carbs are pretty cheap would be interesting on a 1.1, but tbh start with the best you can if you can, i think there was a guy on a 205 owners club that made over 100bhp from a 1l i think but that was a crazy spec he also worked at a specialists for that work, hhhmm 16v head onto a 1.1?? choices it will be mostly trial and error though as most diy :)

Turbo 1.1? Not cheap but it would be different. Some guy on 106oc did it but cant remember what sort of power he got from it although around 120bhp springs to mind for some reason.

Been there with the Turbo, I'm running stock pistons, they'd melt :(

Wouldnt forced induction also cause you to go up a class aswell?
